Progressives Complain Anti-Sex Trafficking Bill “Disproportionately Impacts” LGBTQ And People Of Color

Woke activists have opposed a California sex trafficking bill over supposed concerns that it will disproportionately harm “marginalized communities”.

Specifically, activists have criticized the impact on “members of the LGBTQ community who already suffer from systematic biases” within the justice system as well as people of color.

SB1414 is a bill which would make it a felony offense for any adult to pay for sex with an adolescent. The bill has already been watered down by Democrats so that adults who are accused of soliciting with a 16-17-year-old can only be charged with a felony if the victim has been subject to child sex trafficking.

“I believe that adults who attempt to, or actually buy children for sex in the state of California, should go to prison on a felony charge,” Republican state Sen. Shannon Grove told lawmakers when introducing the bill.

Astonishingly, the bill has been slammed by liberal critics, with one speaker before the California State Assembly from the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, claimed the harsher penalties would “disproportionately impact marginalized communities, particularly Black and brown individuals.” She also admitted that LGBTQ people are convicted of sex offenses at higher rates than heterosexuals, though she seemed to be implying the disparity is due to homophobia, and didn’t seem to realize what she had admitted.

Kellie Walters of Legal Services for Prisoners with Children also raised concerns over the effect on LGBTQ individuals who “already suffer from systematic biases within the criminal justice system, particularly when it comes to sexually based offenses.”

Many commenters on social media expressed their shock to the opposition.

Others were critical of efforts by the Democratic Party to water down the bill, with one user alleged that it was atypical of the party.

Redditors Fear Citizenship Denial After “Accidentally” Registering To Vote

A Redditor who claims to be a non-citizen of the United States has detailed their experience where they were registered to vote upon a visit to the Department for Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The anonymous user is one of multiple instances shared in a lengthy thread shared on X. This particular green card holder “accidentally registered to vote” when renewing their driving license in January 2022.

One Redditor described how they were confused by the use of the word “resident” when checking their eligibility. They added that they had no idea whether they were able to vote after their voting rights were part of their college application.

One man whose ex-girlfriend is a green card holder described how she registered to vote when applying for her state ID.

Ignorance has not been the only cause of accidental voter registration, however. A permanent resident in Texas, who was aware that “one can be denied U.S. citizenship” if they attempt to vote, noticed a voter registration card despite not registering or planning to cast their ballot.

One user, who did not have citizenship, was reportedly granted a voter’s card during a visit to the DMV.

Others were less fortunate, expressing concerns over being denied citizenship after accidental voter registration.

It seems to have been an issue which is not recent, with a now-deleted post dating back ten years also featuring in the thread.

Rather worryingly, there were also a number of posts from users who had said they’d been coerced or tricked into registering to vote.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s demand that Russia withdraws all forces from internationally recognized Ukrainian territory are unlikely to be met while the Kremlin’s demand Ukraine hands over areas Russian troops do not currently control means peace negotiations are unlikely to take place anytime soon.

It’s not exactly a peaceful atmosphere in the Pacific, either. China’s military drills around Taiwan have caused international concern, while North Korea continues its nuclear weapons program despite United Nation sanctions.

In short, there could be a situation where the Commander-in-Chief is called upon in the middle of the night. So, if the Pentagon detects an incoming nuclear missile and President Joe Biden has clocked off for the evening, who is called upon to make a crucial decision.

Well, that question was answered by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday, July 9, when a reporter asked what would happen if a nuke was heading towards the United States outside the President’s sharpest hours.

“[Biden] has a team that lets him know of any news that is impertinent and important to the American people,” she told reporters.

That’s thoroughly reassuring…

The one user who tried to defend the Press Secretary’s remarks was met with immense backlash.

At best, President Biden is leader of the free world for another six months. That, to many, is a scary, scary thought.

Democrats Trail GOP Post-July 4 For First Time In Two Decades

For the past 20 years, the Democrat Party presumptive nominee has led the Republican alternative in the Real Clear Polling (RCP) poll immediately after the Independence Day weekend.

Of course, this has not always led to a Democrat taking the White House. Hilary Clinton led Donald Trump by 4.7 percentage points at this stage in the 2016 electoral cycle but would later go on to lose the election. Likewise, John Kerry was unable to retain his two-point lead over incumbent George W. Bush in 2004 with the Republican emerging triumphant to secure four more years in the White House.

This year, however, it’s different.

Former president Trump leads incumbent Joe Biden by four points in the latest presidential election poll, which only narrows down to three when just the GOP and Democrat candidates are considered.

Needless to say, the debate didn’t help Biden much.

Ultimately, a poll is nothing more than that – a poll. The only one that matters, at the end of the day, is the one on election day which decides the presidency.

Of course, they can also be skewed to favor arguments for one candidate over another.

Nevertheless, such a historic discrepancy can only hurt the Democrats. Doubts over Biden’s fitness to run for president (let alone serve) have grown in recent weeks. Truth be told, attempts to calm the storm by the White House have hardly been met with resounding acclaim either.

Should the party want to change its candidate, it has only one month left before Biden is confirmed as the presidential nominee. The question many are wondering: if not Biden, then who?

A lifelong Democrat and an expert in Parkinson’s Disease expressed frustration over the White House’s optimism over President Joe Biden’s health.

Dr. Tom Pitts noted that the President is displaying “classic features of neurodegeneration” amid growing concern over this ability to govern.

Doubts over Biden’s cognitive ability extended beyond Republican circles following a disastrous performance against Donald Trump in the first presidential debate of 2024. Since then, Democrats have publicly and privately called for the President to step aside before next month’s party convention – requests which have so far been dismissed by the administration.

On NBC’s “Top Story with Tom Llamas”, Dr. Pitts said he could have diagnosed Biden “from across the mall”.

“I’m a Democrat, it’s just like – this guy is not a hard case,” he told Llamas.

Pitts explained that Biden’s “shuffling” mannerisms, “end-block turning” and “word-finding difficulties” were typical symptoms of neurodegeneration.

“Once you start manifesting the hallmark motor symptoms… I mean if a med-student did not pick Parkinson’s on the test, they’d be remediated,” Pitts added.

Venting his frustrations at the Democratic Party, Pitts said: “My party had four years to find – out of 350,000,000 Americans – one person that could take the place.”

Some questioned whether the expert diagnosis was needed given the public appearances by the President.

Other commenters referenced the increased scrutiny over reported visits by a neurologist to the White House. While officials originally claimed that only three visits had taken place in three years, reports suggest up to eight visits in as many months.

The official account of the television series The Sopranos has “ratioed” the President of the United States.

“Ratioing” is a social media slang term for when an account posts an unpopular opinion only for a reply to receive more likes and reposts than the original, signaling strong disapproval of the offending post.

On Friday, July 5, Joe Biden reaffirmed his commitment to the presidential election in November and pledge to “stay in the race” as nominee of the Democrat Party and as President.

In response, the official account of The Sopranos went viral after posting a scene of James Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano character saying: “If you gotta keep saying you’re the boss, you’re not the boss.”

Many commenters on X saw the good nature of the post.

One pro-Biden user was less favorable of it.

Earlier this year, Sopranos star Drea de Matteo spoke out against Biden during an appearance on Fox News, and said that plenty of other celebrities are against him but afraid to speak up.

Biden’s pledges to stay in the race come amid growing discontent among Democrats after a disastrous performance against Donald Trump. Private meetings among party members have considered potential successors, while the President himself has dismissed calls to stand down.

The decision, ultimately, is in the President’s hands. While he has not yet been formally nominated as the Democrat candidate for November’s election, Biden is all-but certain to secure the candidacy at next month’s party convention.

Despite speculation, Biden reaffirmed his commitment in a letter to party members on Monday, July 8, in which he said he was “not blind” to concerns over his age but added it was “time to end” rumors over his candidacy.

Utah’s Great Salt Lake Is Apparently Racist

The Great Salt Lake in Utah has been accused of racism as its dust allegedly affects people of color more than White Americans.

So pervasive is racism in the mind of the liberal that even the Earth itself is now racist.

The 800-square mile bed produces dust which is disproportionately harmful to Pacific Islanders and Hispanics, according to a study published in the One Earth journal on June 21. Particularly, the dust blows towards these communities in the winds, thus increasing the level of pollution along the Wasatch Front.

Pacific Islanders are the most affected by the dust which, according to the study, are the only group exposed to pollution levels above U.S. National Ambient Air Quality Standards. Likewise, Hispanic, Black, and Native American residents also highly impacted.

In order to reduce these discrepancies, the report recommends limiting declining lake levels as a lower level reduces the amount of dust produced.

“People here in Utah are concerned about the lake for a variety of reasons — the ski industry, the brine shrimp, the migratory birds, recreation — and this study adds environmental justice and the equity implications of the drying lake to the conversation,” said Sara Grineski, lead author of the study and a professor of sociology and environmental studies at the University of Utah.

Social media users were, at the very least, skeptical over the apparent findings with many seeing the humorous side.

Others noted the need for a stronger local media in Salt Lake.

Radio Host Firing Casts Yet More Doubts After Biden Claims He Is “First Black Woman” To Serve As President

A Philadelphia radio interview has brought on yet more doubts over President Joe Biden’s ability to govern the nation.

In yet another public gaffe, President Biden told WURD Radio host Andrea Lawful-Sanders that he was “proud” to be “the first black woman to serve with a black president”. The remarks came amid somewhat of a publicity tour for the 81-year-old has he seeks to calm nerves over his mental and physical coherence.

Lawful-Sanders later told CNN that the questions were provided by the White House in advance of the meeting. In effect, Biden knew the questions in advance and could provide pre-written rehearsed responses via telephone – a seemingly simple task which he was still unable to muster.

On Sunday, July 7, Lawful-Sanders was fired by WURD for using “pre-determined questions provided by the White House, which violates our practice of remaining an independent media outlet accountable to our listeners,” according to president and CEO Sara Lomax, who added that the Black-owned radio station “is not a mouthpiece for the Biden or any other Administration”.

Reaction to the development was largely hostile towards the Biden administration.

As one user noted, a bid to improve confidence in the President is still dependent on Biden’s performance.

The remarkable aspect of this saga is that this was not a face-to-face interview. Quite simply, Biden could (and probably did) write the responses prior to the telephone call and recite them verbatim. Yet, even on the most simplest of tasks, he was still below par.

Landmark Supreme Court Decision Quashes Hundreds Of Convictions Against Jan. 6 Demonstrators

The Supreme Court has altered the phrasing of events regarding Jan 6 in a landmark ruling which quashes hundreds of convictions by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

In a 6-3 decision in Fischer v. U.S., the court struck down the charge of “obstruction of an official proceeding” used against hundreds of defendants. As a result, those convictions are now invalid.

The Supreme Court ruled that the DOJ had misapplied 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2) – a law intended to prohibit obstruction of official proceedings by destroying or hiding documents, rather than persecute events like Jan 6.

Furthermore, in a blow to critics of the Supreme Court’s political alignment, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, a liberal appointed by President Joe Biden, sided with conservatives, while Donald Trump-appointee Justice Amy Coney Barrett voted against the ruling alongside her liberal colleagues.

Without evidence that the defendants had interfered with the delivery of documents to Congress, charges for the “obstruction of an official proceeding” are now quashed. Effectively, the allegations are legally downgraded from “insurrection” to the lesser crime of trespassing.

The ruling has major implications beyond those who have already been prosecuted by the federal government. Allegations of insurrection are now legally invalid, thus ruling out charges against other individuals in cases connected to Jan 6 including former president Donald Trump.

Many others, including a defendant, reacted with delight after the court threw out the “weaponized” DOJ’s convictions.

There were also considerations for those who had been jailed for their role in the day’s events.

“Is This Real?!” – Sign Prioritizing LGBTQ Applicants At Immigration Office Goes Viral

An immigration office in the Philippines has come under fire for prioritizing LGBTQ applicants.

The lane grants priority service to groups you’d expect at the Land Transportation Office in Manila. Senior citizens and pregnant women are prioritized, as are people with disabilities.

However, fourth on the list are LGBTQ folk. Quite how one proves they are entitled to this priority is best left to the joys of ignorance…

The post was viewed more than 127,000 times on social media platform X, with many questioning its validity.

Others considered what identities would be permitted under priority service.

Nevertheless, the question everyone wanted to know was: is it real? Well…

It was.

The sign’s existence first went viral in April 2023. Its presence was part of a “gender and development” initiative, with officials informing Facebook users of “the need to recognize and provide equal opportunities” to people who had been “ostracized” in the past.

“Slowly we have to encourage and foster their confidence,” officials added.

The sign came under heavy criticism including from LGBT groups. Bahaghari (Rainbow) chairperson Reyna Valmores noted the “convenience” of a priority lane but told local media that such lanes “exist to help people with physical and, or mental difficulties in processing transactions”.

“We of course recognize that this may be well-meaning. However, this does not erase the fact that the implication of LTO’s LGBTQ+ priority lane is dangerous. To this day, many people including lawmakers cling to the erroneous notion that being LGBTQ+ is a disorder,” she said at the time.
