President Trump Vows To End Chicago Violence Fast, Calls Out Pritzker After Bloody Weekend [WATCH]

President Donald Trump renewed his criticism of Chicago’s crime problems Monday, arguing that he could address the city’s public safety challenges “fast and permanently” after a weekend in which dozens of people were shot across the city, as reported by The New York Post.

Trump made the comments in a post on Truth Social following reports of widespread violence in Chicago over the weekend.

“At least 39 people injured, 4 dead, in Chicago weekend shootings,” Trump wrote.

“Governor Pritzker, I, as President, can fix this. FAST and Permanently.”

“D.C., Memphis, New Orleans, all down to record lows, and quickly. CALL ME! President DJT.”

Trump’s statement came two days after he similarly suggested that Chicago could become one of the safest cities in the country if federal authorities were given a greater role in addressing crime.

While Trump cited four fatalities in his post, Chicago police reported that six people were killed during the weekend violence, according to local reports.

The violence included a mass shooting in Chicago’s Princeton Park neighborhood during a Juneteenth celebration late Saturday night.

Police said two individuals inside a red SUV opened fire on a crowd shortly after 11 p.m. before fleeing the area.

Authorities initially reported 12 victims before later adding a 26-year-old man who suffered injuries but declined medical treatment. In total, 13 people were injured in the shooting.

Among those injured were a 32-year-old woman who was shot twice in the back and a 44-year-old man whose back was grazed by bullets.

Both were transported to area hospitals and were listed in stable condition.

Police also reported that a 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to the thigh, while a 32-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Chicago Alderman Anthony Beale responded to the incident by expressing concern for the community impacted by the shooting.

“I am heartbroken by the senseless shooting,” Beale said.

“In a matter of seconds, an ordinary summer night was shattered by gunfire.”

“Lives were upended, families were thrown into fear, and an entire community was reminded how quickly violence can change everything. No one should have to wonder if they or someone they love will make it home safely. This is the cruel reality of the mindless menace of gun violence in our city.”

Violence was also reported elsewhere across the city. Police said 18-year-old Aniyhas Jackson died after being shot on the West Side Saturday.

Authorities later arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with that investigation.

In a separate incident, a 21-year-old man was fatally shot on Chicago’s South Side early Sunday morning, according to police.

Chicago has continued to grapple with gun violence despite ongoing crime-reduction efforts.

Police statistics cited by local media earlier this year indicated that more than 500 people had been shot in the city during the opening months of 2026, an increase of approximately 9 percent compared with the same period in 2025.

Trump’s comments quickly drew a response from Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, who dismissed the president’s claims and questioned his ability to solve the city’s crime problems.

“This is the president that thought that he could hire an unqualified company to paint the reflecting pool, and then thought that it would just be free of algae. And yet days later, it turned into an algae sea,” Pritzker said.

“And this is the same president that did not know that the Strait of Hormuz could be closed, shuttered essentially, by Iran if he went to war with Iran.”

“I don’t think that we should be listening to this president about promises that he makes or that he has any idea how to protect us in the state of Illinois.”

The exchange reflects an ongoing dispute between Trump and Illinois officials over crime policy and federal involvement in public safety matters.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Chicago’s crime rates in recent years and has suggested federal intervention, including the use of the National Guard, to help restore order.

Last December, the Supreme Court blocked an effort by the Trump administration to deploy the National Guard to Chicago as part of an operation intended to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The administration had argued that federal law permitted the president to assume control of National Guard forces when regular federal personnel were insufficient to execute federal responsibilities.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court stated: “Thus, at least in this posture, the Government has not carried its burden to show that [the statute in question] permits the President to federalize the Guard in the exercise of inherent authority to protect federal personnel and property in Illinois.”

Pritzker has previously maintained that federal military assistance is not necessary to combat crime in the state.

“We’ve been fighting crime. We’ve been trying to prevent crime, and it’s been working,” the governor said in August 2025.

The personnel reductions come after President Donald Trump signaled his desire to streamline federal intelligence agencies and reduce bureaucracy within the intelligence community.

Pulte, who previously served as a federal housing regulator, reportedly arrived at the ODNI headquarters a day before officially taking over the position.

The report also indicated that Pulte met with attorneys on Thursday evening ahead of formally beginning his duties as Acting Director of National Intelligence on Friday.

The personnel moves come during a transition period within the intelligence community.

Earlier this month, President Trump announced the nomination of Jay Clayton, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, to become the next Director of National Intelligence.

However, Clayton’s confirmation process has been delayed. Trump opted to postpone the nomination vote until the Senate confirms a replacement for Clayton’s current position as U.S. attorney.

As a result, Pulte is expected to continue serving as acting director while the confirmation process unfolds.

The delay gives Pulte additional time to oversee operations at the ODNI and implement administrative changes before a permanent director is confirmed by the Senate.

Pulte’s appointment as acting director also became the subject of a legislative battle on Capitol Hill earlier this month.

Sen. Mark Warner introduced an amendment that would have prevented a Senate-confirmed leader of another federal department from simultaneously serving as Acting Director of National Intelligence.

The proposal received support from all Senate Democrats and three Republican senators. Sens. Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski voted in favor of the amendment.

Despite that support, the measure failed on a 49-49 vote, allowing Pulte to remain eligible to serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence.

The ODNI was created following the September 11 terrorist attacks to coordinate the activities of America’s intelligence agencies and provide intelligence assessments to policymakers.

The office oversees coordination among numerous intelligence organizations and plays a central role in national security decision-making.

Investigators believe she was kidnapped from her residence, and authorities have spent months pursuing leads while reviewing numerous communications claiming knowledge of her whereabouts.

The report states that a Feb. 6 email sent to TMZ originated from the same IP address as previous ransom and blackmail messages that investigators considered potentially credible.

Sources familiar with the case told Air Mail that earlier communications contained detailed information about the night Guthrie disappeared, including descriptions of what she was wearing when she was allegedly taken from her home.

One message sent on Feb. 2 reportedly demanded $4 million in bitcoin and described Guthrie as “safe but scared.”

The note also outlined terms for a potential exchange, leading investigators to believe the communication may have come from individuals with direct knowledge of the case rather than internet hoaxers.

However, according to the report, a second message sent four days later took a dramatically different tone.

Sources told the outlet that the Feb. 6 communication opened with a lengthy apology that claimed Guthrie had died accidentally.

The message allegedly went on to suggest that her body could be returned to the family in exchange for payment, though it did not specify a dollar amount.

The communication reportedly caused investigators to shift their focus from a kidnapping investigation toward a potential homicide case.

The report also indicates the message prompted a public response from Guthrie’s family.

The day after the note was received, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings posted a brief video message on Instagram.

In the video, they stated they had “received your message, and we understand.”

Savannah Guthrie later issued a direct plea to the person responsible for her mother’s disappearance.

She asked that the individual “return our mother to us,” adding that her return is “very valuable to us” and that “we will pay.”

According to sources cited by Air Mail, authorities categorized the communications into three groups described as “the good, the bad, and the ugly.”

Messages containing information not publicly known about Guthrie were reportedly classified as “good,” while the communication discussing her alleged death was labeled “bad.”

Savannah Guthrie previously acknowledged during a “Today” interview that many of the messages received by her family were likely fraudulent.

Despite that assessment, she indicated that two specific communications appeared more credible than the others.

“I believe the two notes that we received that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real,” she said.

More than four months after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, investigators continue to pursue leads and examine evidence connected to the case.

Speaking with fellow MSNBC castoff Alex Wagner, Reid launched into another anti-American lecture, claiming Independence Day is not a unifying holiday because of the Founding Fathers’ flaws.

According to Reid, “nobody black I know is really excited about the Fourth of July.” She went on to describe it as a commemoration of “slaveholders who freed themselves from having to pay taxes to the Crown for their slave empire.”

Her comments spread quickly across social media, and it didn’t take long for proud Americans of every background to push back.

One X user who identified as black slammed Reid’s statement, writing, “I’m black. And I’m thrilled to celebrate our 250th anniversary on the Fourth of July!”

She added that only miserable, anti-white activists like Reid and her circle could possibly see America’s birthday through such a bitter lens.

Reid tried to couch her rant in half-hearted humor, claiming she still enjoys barbecues on the day off. “We will barbecue because we’re off,” she said, almost sneering at the idea of celebrating the nation’s freedom.

But her real message was clear: Independence Day, in her eyes, is not something black Americans should feel proud of.

The irony of Reid’s outrage is impossible to miss. Born in Brooklyn to immigrant parents from Congo and Guyana, she has benefited from the very freedoms and opportunities that the United States uniquely offers.

Yet she never misses a chance to ridicule its founding ideals while pretending to speak on behalf of an entire race. The arrogance would be breathtaking if it were not so predictable.

Reid’s hostility toward patriotic tradition fits neatly into the modern left’s war on American history.

For years, she has used her platform to smear conservatives and divide Americans by color and class, repeating the tired narrative that the country is irredeemably racist.

For people like Reid, unity is a threat because it breaks the victimhood narrative that keeps radical pundits relevant.

Of course, the facts contradict her rhetoric. Millions of black Americans proudly fly the Stars and Stripes every Independence Day.

They gather at parades, light fireworks, and grill out with friends and family, not as slaves to some colonial legacy but as proud citizens of the greatest experiment in freedom the world has ever seen.

From Crispus Attucks in the Revolution to the Buffalo Soldiers to modern-day servicemen and women, black Americans have fought and sacrificed to defend this country since its inception.

Even the historical figures Reid invokes expose the weakness of her argument. Frederick Douglass himself, after earlier condemning slavery, later praised the Constitution as a “glorious liberty document.”

He recognized what Reid refuses to: that America’s founding principles contain the moral seed that ultimately destroyed slavery, expanded civil rights, and continues to protect liberty for all.

The Constitution and Declaration of Independence, far from being symbols of oppression, provided the framework for abolition, civil rights, and justice.

The true story of America is one of progress sparked by those documents, not in spite of them. That truth seems to bother modern progressives more than anything.

MSNBC and its alumni like Reid thrive on outrage, and their audience wants to be angry rather than informed. Instead of celebrating how far this nation has come, they dig for bitterness in every corner of history.

To them, patriotism is a scandal, and pride in the flag is somehow suspect. America-hating commentary may play well in newsroom echo chambers, but out in real communities, across all races, people are busy planning cookouts and fireworks, not pity parties.

Reid’s constant ungratefulness reveals why so many Americans have tuned out mainstream media lecturing. Ordinary citizens know that love of country is not defined by politicians or pundits.

They live it every day through hard work, service, faith, and family. And on the Fourth of July, they celebrate the blessings of liberty that allow even someone as privileged as Joy Reid to say whatever outrageous thing she pleases.

That freedom, despite her attempts to smear it, is exactly what Independence Day represents.

A Ryanair passenger was taken into custody after allegedly punching a police officer during an arrest following an international flight from the United Kingdom to Spain, according to witness accounts and video from the incident, as reported by The New York Post.

The disturbance reportedly occurred on June 16 aboard a Ryanair flight traveling from Edinburgh, Scotland, to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Passenger Ritchie Denholm, who recorded part of the confrontation, told Jam Press that the incident began before the aircraft even departed.

According to Denholm, a couple involved in the altercation appeared heavily intoxicated before boarding the flight.

“They were very drunk before leaving Edinburgh, lover’s tiff, and it all started,” the Edinburgh resident said.

Denholm said an argument between the pair escalated during the flight and eventually required intervention from multiple members of the cabin crew. Staff members were reportedly able to calm the situation temporarily.

However, according to the witness, tensions flared again when the couple realized authorities would be waiting for them after the aircraft landed in Spain.

As officers attempted to remove one of the passengers from the aircraft, the situation quickly escalated.

According to reports, one of the officers grabbed the passenger while attempting to escort him off the plane. The passenger then allegedly struck the officer in the face.

The footage shows officers moving to restrain the individual as a struggle unfolded in the aisle. Authorities eventually gained control of the suspect and completed the arrest.

No information regarding potential charges or injuries was immediately released.

The confrontation unfolded in full view of other travelers on board and reportedly caused concern among passengers who witnessed the incident.

Denholm said many people aboard the aircraft were left shaken by what they saw.

The witness also argued that airlines should do more to prevent heavily intoxicated passengers from boarding aircraft in the first place.

“No one should put anyone at risk on a flight considering things that have happened on flights in the past,” Denholm said.

“There should be more security on flights to stop anyone intoxicated getting on.”

The incident is the latest in a series of alcohol-related disruptions reported aboard commercial flights.

Airlines across Europe and elsewhere have faced recurring problems involving unruly passengers, particularly on routes associated with vacation destinations.

Industry groups and airlines have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement and stronger penalties for disruptive behavior on aircraft.

A similar incident involving a Ryanair flight occurred in February when a passenger allegedly refused to stop using a cellphone while the aircraft was taxiing for departure.

According to reports, the passenger continued speaking on the phone despite instructions from crew members. The situation delayed the flight for approximately two hours.

The captain ultimately elected to return the aircraft to the gate, where authorities boarded the plane and removed the passenger.

The June 16 incident remains under review by authorities as officials continue examining the events that led to the confrontation aboard the Edinburgh-to-Palma de Mallorca flight.

Brazilian authorities have arrested six people in connection with the death of a 21-year-old student who died during a bungee jumping event after allegedly being sent from a bridge without being connected to a safety cord, as reported by The New York Post.

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died on June 13 after an incident at an abandoned bridge in Brazil known locally as the “Skeleton Bridge.”

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the event, which was captured on video and later circulated on social media.

According to reports, three additional suspects were recently arrested, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to six.

The latest arrests include a 29-year-old woman from Rio de Janeiro, a 25-year-old man from Limeira, and a 27-year-old man from Indaiatuba.

CNN Brazil reported that investigators believe the three individuals were involved in planning and carrying out the jump. Authorities have not publicly clarified the exact dates of the latest arrests.

Earlier, on June 14, authorities arrested Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, 32, Vitor de Freitas Goncalves, 27, and Maicon Fernandes Cintra, 42. The three were charged with homicide with eventual intent.

Local courts have also authorized search warrants for the homes of all six suspects as investigators continue gathering evidence.

Video of the incident reportedly shows Rodrigues de Freitas being carried by staff members before the jump. A witness recording the event can be heard shouting, “Guys, the rope!” while pointing toward a cord that remained on the bridge.

The bridge where the incident occurred is scheduled to be demolished in an effort to prevent similar tragedies in the future, according to authorities.

Investigators are also attempting to locate a GoPro camera that Rodrigues de Freitas reportedly paid extra to wear during the jump.

Witnesses have alleged that an employee removed the camera after the incident, raising concerns that potential evidence may have been lost or destroyed.

“I remember … seeing one of the employees taking the [camera] handle off the neck, from the body that was already on the floor, the GoPro camera,” witness Rafael Goulard told Brazilian television station EPTV.

Brazilian police said the camera remains a key piece of evidence in reconstructing what happened.

“The Civil Police are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the dynamics of the events, identify all criminal responsibilities, and locate the camera used by the victim at the time of the jump, considered an important element for reconstructing what happened,” Brazil’s Public Security Secretariat said in a statement.

Investigators have also questioned the three instructors initially arrested in the case. According to reports, Egoroff, Goncalves, and Cintra told authorities they could not remember who was responsible for attaching the safety cord.

“Either it’s me or [Cintra] who does it. So I went ahead first, and after that it’s all erased from my mind… I don’t remember,” Egoroff told EPTV.

Authorities said the three men attempted to flee following the incident and were later located with assistance from a military helicopter.

The investigation has also drawn attention to a video recorded years earlier involving some of the instructors.

Reports indicate that Egoroff and others filmed a video in September 2022 titled “Hiding the body,” which showed a black bag being thrown from the same bridge.

Authorities have not indicated whether anyone involved in that video had a role in the June 13 incident beyond those already identified in the investigation.

Police said the investigation remains active as officials continue collecting evidence and determining the criminal responsibility of those involved.

Authorities in Maryland are investigating a shooting that left six people injured, including two children, in Anne Arundel County early Saturday morning, as reported by The Post Millennial.

According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, officers responded to reports of an “unknown disturbance” at approximately 4:49 a.m. in a suburban neighborhood outside Baltimore.

When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a large crowd and discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

As investigators worked to determine what had occurred, police learned that several additional victims had arrived at three different hospitals in the area seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

Authorities said a total of six people were injured during the incident. The victims included four adults and two juvenile males.

In a statement released on social media, the Anne Arundel County Police Department provided details about the injuries sustained by the victims.

“One female victim with a gunshot wound to an extremity, two juvenile males with lower extremity injuries, and an adult male and female victim with lower extremity injuries were admitted to area hospitals, all with non-life-threatening injuries,” the department said.

Police indicated that all six victims survived and were receiving medical care.

Investigators have not yet determined what events led up to the shooting. Authorities said detectives are continuing to interview victims and gather evidence as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Detectives are conducting interviews with the victims to determine what occurred during this event,” the department added.

“This investigation is active, and further details will be released once the investigation concludes.”

No suspects were immediately identified, and police did not announce any arrests as of Saturday.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek information about what triggered the violence and whether additional witnesses may be able to assist investigators.

The Maryland shooting occurred during a violent Juneteenth holiday weekend that saw multiple shootings reported in major cities across the country.

On Friday, a separate shooting on Chicago’s South Side left at least 12 people wounded. The incident drew national attention and prompted comments from President Donald Trump regarding crime in Chicago and the response of state leadership.

Following the Chicago shooting, Trump criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for not requesting federal assistance to help address violent crime in the city.

“Why isn’t Governor Pritzker calling me for help?” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“I could make Chicago a safe City in ONE MONTH, in ONE YEAR, it would be one of the safest!!! D.C. went from one of the worst to one of the safest cities in the U.S.”

Law enforcement officials in Maryland have not indicated whether the Anne Arundel County shooting was connected to any other incidents reported during the holiday weekend.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and said additional information will be released as detectives complete interviews and review evidence collected from the scene.
