Celebrity and alleged comedian Chelsea Handler recently delivered a political warning that immediately ran into a major factual problem.
During a podcast appearance, Handler claimed Attorney General Todd Blanche would overturn Roe v. Wade if he were confirmed.
The obvious problem is that Blanche has already been confirmed.
More importantly, Roe v. Wade was already overturned by the United States Supreme Court in 2022 following the Dobbs case.
That makes Handler’s warning not merely premature or exaggerated, but badly disconnected from the sequence of events described in the discussion.
The very action she warned Blanche would take had already occurred years before her remarks.
Handler made the comments while appearing with leftist commentator Kara Swisher on the Pivot podcast.
The episode was released on Friday and included a conversation about Joe Rogan and other right-leaning podcasters.
During that discussion, Handler turned her attention to Blanche, who was recently confirmed in his role as attorney general.
She presented his confirmation as an approaching development and connected it directly to the fate of Roe v. Wade.
“We’re gonna get Todd Blanche.” Handler said before discussing his confirmation and declaring that “he’s gonna overturn Roe v Wade.”
Handler then broadened her criticism to men with influential platforms, arguing that they were watching events affect women and communities instead of offering support.
Her frustration appeared directed at prominent men whom she believes could use their platforms differently.
“We’re all sitting around, all these men who have these powerful platforms are sitting around and watching this happen to women, to communities that you could instead be supporting,” Handler said during the podcast conversation.
She followed that criticism by insisting that supporting those communities would not require a complete personal transformation.
“You don’t have to, like, turn over a whole new leaf, it’s just about being a decent human being.”

The emotional message was unmistakable, but the central example collapsed under the basic timeline supplied in the report.
Blanche could not overturn a Supreme Court precedent that the Supreme Court had already overturned in 2022.
Handler’s comments consequently drew ridicule from the right.
Critics focused on the fact that she was sounding an alarm about a legal development that had already taken place through the Dobbs case.
The episode also raised questions about Swisher’s lack of a visible correction during the exchange.
Despite Handler’s inaccurate timeline and claim about Blanche, Swisher said nothing in response to that portion of the discussion.
That silence allowed Handler’s warning to pass without an immediate challenge on the podcast.
The conversation therefore continued even though its central claim conflicted with the events already described by the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision.
The commentary surrounding the clip did not stop with the legal correction.
It also took a pointed and personal swipe at Handler, suggesting that Blanche should investigate whoever performed the work on her face.
The larger concern raised by the episode is that some people may take political guidance from celebrity commentary like Handler’s.
Her confidence did not change the fact that the legal action she feared had already happened.
Handler attempted to present her remarks as a plea for influential men to support women and affected communities.
