He explained that the volume of cases led him to sign off on categories of offenders rather than individual files, allowing aides to apply criteria he approved.

Among the most controversial actions were sweeping commutations affecting roughly 4,000 federal convicts and “preemptive” pardons for figures including former Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley and members of the House January 6 committee.

“The autopen I think is maybe one of the biggest scandals that we’ve had in 50 to 100 years,” Trump said during a June press conference.

“Essentially, whoever used the autopen was the president. That’s wrong. It’s illegal. It’s so bad and it’s so disrespectful to our country.”

House Oversight Chairman James Comer is leading a parallel investigation, demanding testimony from Biden’s former aides Mike Donilon, Anita Dunn, Ron Klain, Bruce Reed, and Steve Ricchetti.

A Cape Coral man wearing Batman pajamas helped stop a burglary suspect early Monday morning, according to police.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. in a neighborhood near Santa Barbara Boulevard and 29th Terrace.

Kyle Myvett said he was asleep when his wife noticed an alert on their home security system showing someone rummaging through his truck.

“She’s like hey someone is rummaging through your truck,” Myvett recalled.

By the time he got outside, the suspect was gone. Myvett said he then got into his truck to check the area and noticed that a neighbor’s garage door was open.

Concerned, he called his neighbor and told him he would wait outside until the garage was secured.

While watching the home, Myvett spotted someone moving inside the garage.

He said he decided to approach the individual quietly and then made physical contact to stop him.

“Without the person seeing me, I grabbed a hold of their shirt and right wrist and told him listen, don’t try to get away, I have plenty of experience with this,” Myvett said.

Myvett, who has a background in corrections, said he was able to keep the suspect calm until officers arrived on the scene.

Cape Coral Police later identified the suspect as 20-year-old Justin Schimpl.

Investigators said Schimpl had also broken into a neighbor’s car and stolen two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a wristlet, and several gift cards.

“He was taken into custody, he was arrested and charged, he’s facing multiple charges today thanks to Kyle and his Batman pajamas,” said Lisa Greenberg with the Cape Coral Police Department.

Myvett said his attire gave him an added boost of confidence. “I’m really glad I had my Batman pajamas on because that gave me the extra confidence I needed,” he said.

Police credited Myvett’s quick action with helping officers locate and arrest the suspect without further incident.

Authorities said Schimpl faces multiple charges related to burglary and theft.

Myvett said his decision to act was motivated by a desire to help his community. “We want to do as much as we can for the community, and hopefully others will start being better at being better,” he said.

The Cape Coral Police Department said the incident serves as a reminder for residents to secure their vehicles and garages and to promptly report suspicious activity.

Officers emphasized that while community involvement can be valuable, residents should always exercise caution and allow police to handle potentially dangerous situations whenever possible.

The arrest concludes what neighbors described as a tense situation, and police said the items stolen during the burglary were recovered.

“The story for me, or the obligation for me, is to focus on the goodness of God, and focus on obedience to God and stewarding that story,” he said.

Todd forgave Neal from his hospital bed, a decision he said helped him move forward. “It would be totally understandable to have a lot of desire to see retribution,” Todd said.

“And yet in those moments — because God had gifted me with the ability to forgive, and God had saved me from death — showing how obedience to God can also lead others to a life full of meaning and satisfaction and redemption and tough trials and situations.”

The assault took place during one of Washington’s most violent years in decades, with crime rates surging across the city.

In response, President Donald Trump moved to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department and deployed federal law enforcement and National Guard troops to the streets.

Asked about the presence of troops in the capital, Todd said he was uncertain if it was the best solution but emphasized the importance of addressing the problem.

“I don’t know whether or not troops in the city is the best way to do it. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t,” Todd said. “But I do think that the attitude of trying to solve that problem is something that people need to have, and it’s worthwhile.”

According to authorities, Snelling has been charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. She was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center, where records show she remains in custody.

The cause of the infant’s death is under review by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. Officials have not said whether additional charges may follow pending the results of that investigation.

University of Kentucky officials acknowledged Snelling’s involvement with the cheerleading program.

“We can confirm that she has been a member of the STUNT team for the last three seasons. All other questions should be directed to the Lexington Police,” a university spokesperson told local outlets.

Snelling is listed on the university’s athletics website as a member of the competitive squad. Lex18 reported she had been part of the team for three years.

A Houston man has been charged with murder after police say he fatally shot an 11-year-old boy who was playing the doorbell prank known as “ding dong ditch” with friends over the weekend, as reported by The New York Post.

Authorities identified the suspect as 42-year-old Gonzalo Leon Jr. He is accused of shooting Julian Guzman late Saturday night, moments after the child rang the doorbell of Leon’s home and ran away.

According to a statement from Houston police, officers were informed that Guzman and several other children were ringing doorbells in the neighborhood and then fleeing.

“A witness stated Guzman was running from a house after ringing the doorbell just prior to suffering a gunshot wound,” the statement said.

Police said that after the shooting, Guzman was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Sunday.

Police Activity at Cape Canaveral Hospital Saturday night. The Cocoa Beach Police Department was on scene at the hospital investigating a suspicious incident. Also on scene was a heavy presence of BCSO. Fire trucks and ambulances were staged near the hospital on 520.

Officers initially questioned a person at the scene, but that individual was released. On Tuesday, however, Houston police SWAT officers arrested Leon, who was later booked into the Harris County Jail on a murder charge.

The case comes amid a series of recent incidents in which the prank has ended in violence.

Earlier this year in Virginia, a homeowner allegedly shot and killed a high school athlete after the teen and his friends knocked on his door.

In a separate case in July of last year, a teenager was shot and wounded in Maine after attempting the prank at another residence.

Police have not released additional details on whether Leon made any statements during or after the shooting. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is expected to pursue the case in the coming weeks.

Authorities are urging parents to warn children about the dangers of pulling pranks on strangers’ homes, given the recent surge in popularity of “ding, dong, ditch” videos on social media.

Bondi confirmed the termination in a statement. “Today, I took action to terminate a DOJ employee for inappropriate conduct towards National Guard service members in DC,” Bondi said.

“This DOJ remains committed to defending President Trump’s agenda and fighting to make America safe again. If you oppose our mission and disrespect law enforcement — you will NO LONGER work at DOJ.”

Baxter’s firing comes just weeks after another DOJ employee, paralegal Sean Charles Dunn, was dismissed and later charged following a separate incident.

Dunn, who worked in the criminal division’s international affairs section, was accused of shouting obscenities at federal officers and throwing a salami sandwich at a Border Protection officer on August 10 in D.C.’s U Street neighborhood.

According to charging documents, Dunn yelled, “F**k you! You f**king fascists! Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city!” before allegedly hurling the sandwich.

He was initially arrested for felony assault, but after a grand jury declined to indict, prosecutors charged him with misdemeanor assault, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail.

Bondi addressed the matter after Dunn’s termination, stating, “This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ. You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement.”

Baxter’s termination letter, issued Friday evening, removed her from her position as Paralegal Specialist, GS-0950-11, effective immediately. DOJ officials emphasized that the decision followed multiple witness statements, video evidence, and a full review of her conduct.
