Harvard Professors Try Blocking Audit Into Billions in Government Grants

Professors at Harvard University have filed a lawsuit aimed at halting a federal review of nearly $9 billion in government grants and contracts awarded to the school, as the Trump administration investigates antisemitism on college campuses.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court in Boston, claims that the administration’s audit threatens academic freedom and free speech.

It was brought by the Harvard chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and the national organization.

The legal challenge comes amid a broader federal effort to investigate antisemitic incidents and rhetoric on college campuses, including those at elite universities.

The Trump administration has increased scrutiny of institutions receiving taxpayer funds, particularly where student protests or faculty conduct have raised concerns.

According to the AAUP, the audit violates constitutional protections and is intended to intimidate faculty and chill campus discourse.

The Department of Justice, which is representing the administration in the case, declined to comment on the pending litigation.

Harvard University, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, also declined to issue a statement.

The funding in question includes approximately $9 billion in federal grants and contracts provided to Harvard over recent years.

While the administration has not publicly detailed the full scope of the audit, it is part of a broader review of federal funding to universities where there have been allegations of antisemitism or campus unrest.

The issue gained national attention in 2023, when then-Harvard President Claudine Gay testified before Congress.

During her testimony, Gay was asked whether calling for the genocide of Jews would violate Harvard’s code of conduct.

She responded that such speech would not necessarily constitute a violation, prompting widespread criticism. Gay later stepped down from her position.

In May 2024, faculty and students at Harvard participated in a rally where participants were heard chanting “Intifada, come to America,” according to event footage and multiple news reports.

The demonstration, which included both anti-Israel and anti-American sentiment, drew further attention to the climate on Harvard’s campus and fueled calls for a federal review of the school’s publicly funded programs.

The federal audit is focused on ensuring that taxpayer money is not being used to subsidize institutions that allow discriminatory conduct or fail to uphold civil rights standards, officials have said.

The legal action from the Harvard professors comes despite the university’s massive financial resources.

As of 2024, Harvard’s endowment is valued at more than $51 billion, making it the largest university endowment in the country.

The school’s reliance on federal grants and contracts—despite this endowment—has also sparked criticism.

The professors’ lawsuit is expected to be an early test of how far universities can go in resisting federal oversight tied to campus behavior and the use of taxpayer funds.

The case is pending in U.S. District Court in Boston, with a hearing date yet to be scheduled.

The Trump administration has not indicated whether additional universities will face similar audits, though officials have suggested more reviews could be on the horizon.

Oklahoma School Which Previously Hosted Feet Licking Contests Issues Ban On Student’s American Flag

An Oklahoma high school has been slammed by conservatives after a student was told they would not be permitted to fly an American flag on his truck.

Edmond North High School, which previously came under fire for holding feet and armpit licking events in March 2024, informed the student of the ban on flying the Star Spangled Banner.

Some have claimed the move to be a breach of the student’s constitutional rights, although Edmond Public Schools’ public information officer Jeff Bardach defended the decision which covers an outright ban on flag flying.

“You can’t allow one [flag] and limit another,” he told local media. “It’s been our long-standing practice to not allow students to bring flags.”

The school has a range of policies which include bans on inappropriate language, signs, and flags on campus or at events.

“To be clear, this is not about the American flag or patriotism. Edmond Public Schools proudly displays the American flag prominently and in the proper, respectful way outside each of our buildings and in our classrooms,” Bardach added.

Social media users were outraged by the news.

Others encouraged the student to ignore the ban.

Another suggested the idea of a complete repaint of his truck.

Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters also criticized the ban. “Patriotism should never be penalized at Oklahoma schools,” he said on X. “[Edmond] has a history of prioritizing woke agendas over our history and our freedoms. We will investigate and I will act.”

Texas High School Reverses “Unconstitutional” Removal Of Donald Trump Parking Lot Murals

A North Texas high school was slammed by conservatives online after two pro-Donald Trump slogans decorated in the parking lot were forcibly removed.

Keller High School’s senior students hold an annual tradition of painting murals in their parking spots. Two students, who have not been named, each opted to paint messages of support for the former president.

One mural featured Trump donning sunglasses and a bandanna, while another simply read 45/47 in reference to the Republican’s previous and possible next term as president.

In a since deleted policy, Keller maintained “the right to paint over, confiscate, and re-sell spaces that include content determined to be inappropriate by the administration, including but not limited to controversial, offensive, or obscene material.”

However, the Keller Independent School District later changed course. On Wednesday, July 31, Dr. Charles Randklev, the school board’s president, issued a statement on Facebook.

“You may have heard about a parking lot controversy at Keller High School where students were required to paint over the parking spots in the attached photo,” he wrote on the social media platform.

“Let me be clear. There is nothing offensive or controversial about respectfully painting or honoring a current or former President for the United States of America. We will take action and make it clear that the students can honor President Trump as the 45th, and soon-to-be 47th President of the United States, as they wish.”

Conservative backlash spread quickly when news of the removal was shared – which helped lead to the reversal.

Others alleged the move was unconstitutional.

And they were right.

Apparently You’re A White Supremacist If You Show Up To Work On Time

Cultural expectations such as punctuality, perfectionism, and individualism key characteristics of “white supremacy culture” according to a document from Duke University’s School of Medicine. Who knew?

As part of its “Critical Race Theory” series, the medical school aims to “catalyze anti-racist practice through education” and create an “anti-racist workforce.”

The document, which has been approved by the school’s dean Dr. Mary E. Klotman, claimed traditional expectations such as arriving for work on time and well-dressed were aspects of “white supremacy culture.”

“White supremacy culture is the idea (ideology) that White people and the ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and actions of white people are superior to People of Color and their ideas, thoughts, beliefs and actions,” according to the report.

After claiming that the United States is rigged in favor of people “solely because they are White,” the document continued to say that “white supremacy culture” is “power hoarding” at the expense of minorities.

“In the workplace, white supremacy culture explicitly and implicitly privileges whiteness and discriminates against non-Western and non-white professionalism standards related to dress code, speech, work style, and timeliness,” the document added. “Some identifiable characteristics of this culture includes perfectionism, belief that there’s only one right way, power hoarding, individualism, sense of urgency and defensiveness.”

Duke’s is renowned for its diversity, equity and inclusion policies, and many commenters noted the ludicrous findings of its recently published document.

Others questioned how the practice would work should a patient arrive on time for surgery.

Woke Universities Could Be Targeted Under House Republican Bill

Woke universities which permit disruptive protests could be required to publish their policies following anti-Israel demonstrations across the country in recent months.

House Republicans are pushing the bill titled the No Tax Dollars For College Encampments Act amid thousands of arrests of pro-Palestinian students earlier this year. The bill, led by Rep. Jim Banks and GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, targets universities which receive federal funding.

Should the bill become law, such colleges will be required to be more transparent about their protest policies and report campus crime statistics.

The bill has been supported by eight House Republicans so far as well as conservative groups such as Parents Defending Education Action. If adopted, it would amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 which aims to address reporting of campus protests.

Following Hamas’ terror attacks against Israeli civilians last October, student activists across the country held encampment protests prompting ugly scenes and more than 3,100 arrests.

In a statement to Fox News, Rep. Banks said the legislation would hold “woke universities accountable” and ensure protest rules are enforced “fairly and equally”.

Reaction from social media users was mixed, with some calling for tougher sanctions.

Others were more skeptical over the bill’s likely impact, with one user commenting that it was likely to “stir the pot” even more.

One commenter described the issue as “really chronic”, stating that some university professors had a role to play.

NYU Students List Their Majors – And It Makes “Underwater Basket Weaving” Look Like a Real Major by Comparison

A lot of us remember arguing with our parents over college majors. If we wanted to get an arts degree, many of our dads said something like, “You can take whatever you want, but I’m not paying for a diploma that won’t get you a real job.” If the kids in the video below are any indication, America’s moms and dads have lowered their standards.

The epic X/Twitter account End Wokeness posted this social media compilation of today’s youth in New York City gabbing excitedly about their college majors – none of which can be considered real majors.

Remember that old joke about majoring in underwater basket weaving? Oh, it’s far worse today. Here are some of the majors these young people rattled off with surprising pride:

  • The Performance of Self
  • Creative Production and Narrative Through the Arts
  • The Sociology of Environmental Communication
  • Music, Business, and Gender Studies

“The Performance of Self?” Might be more honestly labeled “How To Turn Narcissistic Personality Disorder Into Fun and Profit!”

Most of the alleged majors sound as though they were made up on the spot during a street game of Mad Libs, but student Dominique’s “Care Studies” major has to take top prize. What students are to care for or about is left unclear, but her minor of “Disability Studies” might give a clue.

You’ll have to watch the whole thing to get the complete list, and we warn you, gird your loins if you are sensitive to valley girl accents. To a man and woman, each matriculant talks like and extra from “Heathers”. Every statement goes up at the end making it sound like a question?

Naturally, X users had some unkind-but-true things to say. Joe Nicosia expects to see these bright youngsters at Starbucks:

Savannah Hernandez correctly identifies this cohort as our whiners-in-waiting:

Steven Miller thinks there’s a bit of hope for them beyond barista-hood:

Jokes aside, this kind of “education” is no laughing matter for grownups who’d like to see first-world society continue. User Paul A. Szypula has the right of it:

What’s your favorite made-up major? Tell us in the comments!

Bill Maher Slams Biden’s Unaffordable Student Debt Forgiveness Plan

Is it possible that even perennial leftist Bill Maher could finally be waking up to the insanity of forgiving hundreds of billions of student loans?

During the most recent episode of Real Time, Maher slammed the high cost of so-called student loan forgiveness; “The Biden administration’s student debt cancelation will cost a combined $870 billion to $1.4 trillion. That’s a lot of debt forgiveness.”

Maher continued, “Colleges constantly raise tuition, then the kids take out more loans, then the government comes by and pays those loans. Okay, so my tax dollars are supporting this Jew hating? I don’t think so.”

As always, the left could use some personal responsibility.

It’s amusing to note how much Biden has banked on the youth vote, and yet none of them seems to care. With Gaza and student loan forgiveness being two of the lowest priority issues, maybe the left will finally stop being the party of college radicals… but I wouldn’t count on it. As we all know, the current generation of politicians is filled with former college radicals, and they’re being supported by the college radicals of today.

And those radicals weren’t thrilled with Maher’s comments:

Maher has become increasingly critical of certain left wing issues in recent years, such as his critical views of the response to COVID, and constant excoriation of woke culture. While this could seem to be just another step down the line to being kicked out of his own party this fall, it sure seems that Maher has no interest in leaving it regardless.

Some people never learn.

UCLA Rioter Loses Apple Watch, Complains When They Aren’t Allowed Back on Campus to Retrieve It

Get ready to laugh:

Oh the entitlement. Riot, then complain when you’re banned from returning to retrieve items you lost while rioting. While part of me wants to sit here and trash talk the spoiled kids attending one of the worlds premier universities wasting their shot in life rioting during finals, we all know that reality will be doing that to them shortly so why bother?

Just in case anyone things that mask he’s wearing is going to help, above is a shot of his face that was caught live on Fox. Surely you would this he’s more concerned with his face being plastered all over the news, and a criminal record above replacing a few simple possessions.

You would think people would have learned to follow this tried and tested rule by now.

Sounds like the only good reason to visit LA to me.

Columbia Student Thinks School Should Provide Aid to Protesters, Receives Reality Check Instead

One Columbia University student received a harsh dose of reality recently via a reporter covering the situation at Hamilton Hall.

Student protesters occupied Hamilton Hall on the campus of Columbia University in New York City on Tuesday. PhD-candidate and faculty member Johannah King-Slutzky, spoke to reporters and called for the school to provide food and water to the occupiers, even going so far as to call it “humanitarian aid”.

She had no idea that a reporter with actual common sense was in the crowd. The unnamed reporter pushed back on her false narrative, pointing out that the students chose occupied the building and can leave whenever they want.

“It seems like you’re saying, ‘we want to be revolutionaries, we want to take over this building, now would you please bring us some food’.”

Her statements were quickly fact-checked by X users in the form of Community Notes.

Naturally, reaction to her comments was critical.

Ms. King-Slutzky’s X profile lists her PhD subject as “Romantic Lit + Energy”. This would seem to jibe with the subject of her dissertation: “fantasies of limitless energy in the transatlantic Romantic imagination from 1760-1860”. What that means, I have no idea.

Eager to learn more about limitless energy in transatlantic Romantic imagination, I clicked on her faculty bio on the Columbia University website…aaand it’s been taken down. Sad mascot face.

And what’s with the guy standing behind her? Nice crop-top jean jacket. His look might not go over so well in Gaza.
