Former first son Hunter Biden spoke openly and jokingly about his sexuality during a recent podcast appearance, repeatedly addressing questions about whether he considers himself gay, as reported by The New York Post.
Biden, 56, discussed the subject during an Aug. 16 episode of “The Luke Beasley Show.” The conversation included questions about his sexuality, his past struggles with substance abuse and his personal life.
Luke Beasley raised the subject early in the interview by directly asking Biden, “Are you gay?”
Biden responded, “Only a little bit.”
Beasley followed up by asking whether Biden was “more or less than 50 percent” gay. Biden answered, “48.6 percent.”
The exchange continued when Beasley asked whether he would be Hunter Biden’s “type.”
“A little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay,” Hunter responded.
Beasley then showed Biden an AI-generated image depicting the two men in a close embrace. The image showed Hunter Biden with his left hand around the podcaster’s waist.
“If I’m not your type, then why did you embrace me like this? Go ahead, take a look,” Beasley said as he handed Biden the image.
“Oh Jesus Christ, I don’t know. I just, it all is coming back to me,” Biden joked.
He then connected the joke to his history of substance abuse.
“I was in a stupor at that point. I think that was pre-2019 when I got sober,” he quipped.
Biden later returned to what he called “the gay question,” revisiting the percentage he had given earlier in the conversation.
He initially suggested that he might take back the figure, saying, “maybe I take back 48.5” percent.
The former president’s son continued joking about the subject, later saying, “More like 47 [percent] after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”
Near the conclusion of the nearly 90-minute interview, Biden again changed his answer.
“I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay,” he said.
The comments were made during a wide-ranging conversation rather than as part of a formal announcement concerning Biden’s personal life.
Hunter Biden has been married to Melissa Cohen since 2019, the two married six days after meeting.
Before his marriage to Cohen, Biden was married to Kathleen Buhle, his longtime wife. The couple share three daughters and divorced in 2017.
Biden’s personal life has remained a subject of public interest because of his status as the son of former President Joe Biden.
His public profile has also been shaped by his struggles with substance abuse, which he referenced during the podcast discussion.
