New York AG Letitia James Ticketed Over Violation Amid Fraud Investigation

New York Attorney General Letitia James has been cited by the city’s Department of Buildings for an illegal fence at her Brooklyn residence, a property already at the center of a federal mortgage fraud investigation, as reported by the New York Post.

The agency issued James a summons on July 23 after receiving at least three anonymous complaints dating back to April alleging that the black iron fence in front of her Clinton Hill brownstone exceeded the legal height.

City rules limit front-yard fences in the historic district to four feet, but the barrier at James’s property measures 5 feet, 6 inches, according to the notice.

James is scheduled to appear before an administrative law judge on October 8. If found in violation, she faces fines of up to $500 unless the fence is removed or lowered to the permitted height by September 26.

The Clinton Hill home, which James purchased in 2001, has also drawn federal scrutiny.

The U.S. Department of Justice has been investigating allegations that James falsified records to obtain favorable loan terms on the property, as well as on another residence she co-owns in Virginia with a niece.

James has denied the accusations, calling them “baseless” and attributing them to her legal clashes with President Trump.

City Councilman Robert Holden, a Queens Democrat, said the attorney general must be held to the same standards as other New Yorkers.

Local residents offered mixed reactions. Some neighbors said they were unaware the fence violated regulations. One longtime resident, who noted the home was more than 120 years old, said she believed James had inherited the fence when she purchased the brownstone.

The same neighbor pointed out that at least one other house on the block also has a tall fence that has not been cited.

Records show James is also delinquent in paying a $13 annual property registration fee required by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development on the Brooklyn property.

James did not respond to requests for comment regarding the fence summons or the ongoing federal investigation.

You take a situation and then you exploit what has happened to not only that person, but you exploit those families and you make it a game! “Tragically, [Homeland Security] Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas and his department missed key warning signs about the alien’s propensity for violence, which law enforcement officials investigating the murder later uncovered.”

The report concluded that stronger vetting procedures could have identified Martinez’s gang ties prior to his release into the U.S.

Hamilton’s case has drawn national attention not only because of her murder but also because of her vulnerability as a young woman with autism.

Advocates have argued that her death highlights systemic flaws in how UACs are processed and placed after crossing the southern border.

“White individuals are actually more likely to be attacked, especially even per capita, by black individuals in this country,” Kirk said.

“The narrative that they have tried to force feed this nation post 2020 is that we are a systemically racist country to our core. We started to say the word racist more. We started to redesign our corporations. We started to teach things in our classrooms that were from the 1619 project, and all of this has now been met with an appropriate backlash where people said we’re actually not nearly as racist as you say we are.”

Kirk added that the issue is not confined to rhetoric, but affects real-world decisions.

He pointed to policing policies and government payouts as examples of policies influenced by what he described as an unchallenged media-driven narrative.

“The final thing I’ll say is this is more than just a semantic argument. This is more than just whether or not it’s a race thing or not,” Kirk said.

“Bad policing practices, consent decrees, opening up the prisons. As you say, $3.3 million is an outgrowth of a media narrative lie. So it’s not just an innocent media narrative lie. Real policies get put into place when you don’t challenge this nonsense in the public schools.”

The discussion followed the release of footage showing bystanders rushing to assist Zarutska after she was stabbed on a Charlotte train in August. The video circulated widely online, drawing attention to the attack.

The letter from Clinton, written in his handwriting, offered birthday wishes to Epstein in 2003.

“It’s reassuring isn’t it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing, adventures and [illegible word], and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends,” Clinton wrote.

Alongside the letter, the committee also released an illustration from the book depicting Epstein in 1983 offering balloons and candy to young girls, contrasted with a 2003 image showing Epstein being massaged by topless women beneath a drawing of his private jet.

The cartoon was captioned, “What a great country!”

House Oversight

The release came the same day a note allegedly bearing Trump’s signature was publicized.

The message read, “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” Trump has strongly denied writing the note, calling it “fake.”

He filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal earlier this year after it first reported on the contents of the book.

White House aides responded Monday with examples of Trump’s signature, arguing the handwriting in the book did not match.

“The latest piece published by the Wall Street Journal proves this entire ‘Birthday Card’ story is false,” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement on X.

“As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it. President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.”

Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich also rejected the report, posting signature comparisons and calling the story defamatory.

Another image from the book shows Epstein and a Mar-a-Lago member holding an oversized check with a handwritten caption implying a woman was being “sold” to Trump for $22,500.

The woman’s name was redacted.

Her attorney told the Wall Street Journal she had no prior knowledge of the note and described it as “a disgusting and deeply disturbing hoax.”

Epstein’s longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who compiled the book for his 2003 birthday, reportedly asked Epstein’s friends and acquaintances to submit messages, drawings, or stories.

Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in Epstein’s crimes.

In interviews with federal investigators, she told Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche she could not recall whether Trump had contributed a note.

Democrats on the Oversight Committee seized on the release to criticize Trump.

Ranking Member Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., said: “President Trump called the Epstein investigation a hoax and claimed that his birthday note didn’t exist. Now we know that Donald Trump was lying and is doing everything he can to cover up the truth. Enough of the games and lies, release the full files now.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi, who last month turned over 33,000 pages of Epstein-related records from the Department of Justice to the committee, oversaw the initial review.

Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., confirmed that many of the pages contained previously known information, including Customs and Border Protection flight logs documenting Epstein’s private jet travel between 2000 and 2014.

In a letter included in Monday’s release, attorneys for Epstein’s estate wrote that they are not aware of a client list tied to Epstein’s activities.

They stated that the original copy of Epstein’s “Black Book,” a directory of contacts, was likely seized by the FBI in 2019 during searches of Epstein’s residences.

President Trump, in a post last Friday on Truth Social, criticized Democrats for pursuing the investigation.

“The confused and badly failing Democrat Party did nothing about Jeffrey Epstein while he was alive except befriend him, socialize with him, travel to his Island, and take his money! They knew everything there was to know about Epstein, but now, years after his death, they, out of nowhere, are seeming to show such love and heartfelt concern for his victims,” Trump wrote.

Soft-on-Crime Judges Could Be Held Liable if GOP Rep Randy Fine’s Bill Passes

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., announced on Sunday that he will introduce legislation aimed at holding judges accountable when repeat violent offenders they release commit additional crimes.

The move comes in response to the August 22 killing of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally stabbed while traveling on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line light rail system.

The attack took place at the East/West Boulevard station in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Authorities identified the suspect as 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., a repeat offender with a history of felony convictions.

“I’m going to introduce legislation to hold judges accountable when violent repeat offenders they release commit new crimes,” Fine said.

“It’s easy to release criminals when you’re protected by an armed bailiff at all times. The rest of us aren’t so lucky.”

He added, “Those 12+ judges that released Decarlos Brown Jr. should have their day in court too.”

Brown has a lengthy criminal record.

According to the New York Post, he has been convicted of felony larceny, communicating threats, and robbery with a dangerous weapon, for which he served a five-year sentence.

Local station WBTV reported that Charlotte police had arrested Brown on multiple occasions, including a January arrest for misusing 911.

Court records from that arrest indicate Brown told officers that he believed “man-made material” had been placed inside his body to control his actions, including eating, walking, and talking.

Following the rail station stabbing, Brown was taken into custody and charged with murder.

The case has raised concerns about judicial leniency toward repeat offenders.

Fine’s proposal would focus on creating accountability measures for judges who approve the release of individuals with violent criminal histories and who then commit further crimes.

President Donald Trump also addressed the killing, offering condolences to the victim’s family and criticizing the conditions that allowed Brown to be free at the time of the attack.

“I just give my love and hope to the family of the young woman who was stabbed … in Charlotte by a madman — a lunatic,” Trump said.

Describing the attack, he noted, “He just got up and started — it’s right on the tape. [It’s] not really watchable, because it’s so horrible, but just viciously stabbed. She’s just sitting there.”

Trump added, “So they’re evil people. We have to be able to handle that. If we don’t handle that we don’t have a country.”

The murder has drawn criticism of the broader criminal justice system, particularly in Charlotte, where residents and officials have previously expressed concern over repeat offenders being released back into the community.

Fine’s upcoming legislation is expected to generate debate over the role of judicial discretion in such cases and whether lawmakers should impose additional checks on judges who release individuals with violent records.

The killing of Zarutska, a young refugee seeking safety in the United States, and the criminal history of the accused, showcase the ongoing discussion over public safety and judicial accountability.

Lawmakers are preparing to examine Fine’s proposal in the coming weeks as the case continues to unfold in North Carolina courts.
