This Week in Woke: Episode 1
For Wokespy I’m Joshua Slocum with the Week in Woke. We’re gonna round up the best of the worst from the clown world we’re all living in.
1. Fight! Fight! Fight!
When a would-be assassin nearly killed President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday, July 13, his survival looked like a miracle – because it was. You’ve probably already seen this incredible photograph that caught the bullet that nearly killed the 45th president, in mid-air, just a microsecond before it clipped his ear.
The U.S. Sun has an illustration that shows just how close Donald Trump came to death. At just the exact right moment, Trump turned his head away from the crowd in front, allowing the bullet to graze his ear. If he hadn’t, it would have gone straight through his brain.
Serious questions are being asked (shouted, really) across the political spectrum. How did the shooter manage to get onto an empty rooftop with a clear line of sight? How did the Secret Service not notice him? Why did so many police apparently ignore spectators who were pleading with them to notice the man on the roof and take action before it was too late?
But what caused Trump to turn his head? It was this chart:
Every honest American knows we have been invaded by at least 10 million illegal aliens under President Joe Biden’s watch. It’s undeniable that the Biden administration wants this to happen, as they’ve done next to nothing to stop the influx, and taken action to worsen it, all while bleating that it’s Republicans’ fault (even though the Democrats control the federal government).
Really, what else can they do? The chart says it all. When Trump cracked down on the problem during his administration starting in late 2019, the number of border jumpers dropped precipitously. And then Biden took office, and the bars on the chart reached up like Manhattan skyscrapers.
The Twitter/X user who posted the chart injected a bit of much-needed humor into what has been an awful weekend for Americans.
Others took a similar approach with absurd silliness like this:
And the laughs just keep on coming.
Especially in times of woe, laughter is often the best (or only) medicine. But there’s always that one party pooper.
2. The Netflixification of reality continues.
A new documentary set to be released later this year claims Abraham Lincoln was a gay man who had “steamy gay sex sessions” with male partners.
Lover of Men, which has a scheduled release date of Friday, September 6, claims to “examine the intimate life of America’s most consequential president” by lying about him.
A two-minute trailer details the background to the film with interviewees from different sides of the political spectrum praising the Civil War president.
Later, it discusses Lincoln’s relationship with Joshua Speed – a lifelong close friend whom the then-president repeatedly offered roles to during his four-year tenure. In addition, the trailer highlights Lincoln’s relationship with Captain David Derickson of the 150th Pennsylvania Infantry, with the two allegedly sharing a bed during the Civil War.
Concluding, the trailer notes Lincoln’s “insistence on equality” and explores hypothetical opinions on the rights of gay people in the 21st century.
According to the film’s synopsis, “Lover of Men widens its lens into the history of human sexual fluidity and focuses on the profound differences between sexual mores of the nineteenth century and those we hold today. The film fills in an important missing piece of American history and challenges the audience to consider why we hold such a limited view of human sexuality.”
When the film’s trailer was shared on social media, many questioned why the documentary makers sought to make “everything gay”.
Others took a more lighthearted view.
3. Too bad, so sad!
CNN is getting rid of its Race and Equality team, just in time for a hot summer. It looks like the wokest network on cable television (well, OK, it’s neck and neck with MSNBC) is finally getting the “go woke go broke” memo.
Three reporters are leaving the now-canceled beat. One was fired, while the other two were reassigned; it’s not clear who they may have been. This is part of a larger 100-person lay-off at the network. Unsurprisingly, the “Race and Equality” desk was set up in the religious fervor surrounding the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020. You remember—the U.S. went nuts, leftists and Black Lives Matter members burned cities and government buildings.
And best of all, CNN itself birthed a meme when its on-camera reporter stood live in front of burning buildings in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the background while describing the protests as “mostly peaceful.”
Mainstream media has been left-wing media for decades, of course. But the hard turn to insane left really kicked off with the death of George Floyd, and was further entrenched by the delirium that gripped America over the Covid-19 virus. Reporting became all-race, all the time, with white people and conservatives blamed for, well, everything, all the time.
It looks like CNN is belatedly learning what Bud Light learned when its value tanked after teaming up with a drag queen pretending to be woman.
Let’s check in on social media to see what the public thinks about CNN’s latest move.
