21 Blue States Enter the ‘Find Out’ Phase as USDA Moves to Clamp Down on SNAP Fraud

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced that the Department of Agriculture will halt federal funding to states that decline to provide data needed to investigate fraud in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Rollins detailed the decision during a cabinet meeting of the Trump administration as she reviewed the agency’s recent findings and ongoing efforts to address misuse within the program.

Rollins said that in February the USDA asked all states to “turn over their data to the federal government to let the USDA partner with them to root out” fraud, but only 29 states complied.

She noted that the noncompliant states were predominantly blue states.

“The third thing — we have so much great things to talk about at USDA, but the third thing which became very much a part of the national conversation during the Democrat shutdown was SNAP reform, food stamp reform,” Rollins said during the meeting.

“When all of America saw, which so many of us know, and have been working on — but when you have so much rampant fraud in a program that 42 million Americans participate in.”

Rollins said the agency’s review uncovered several categories of misuse.

She reported that since President Donald Trump took office, 800,000 of the 42 million Americans enrolled in the program have “moved off of food stamps.”

She added that the USDA discovered that 186,000 dead individuals’ Social Security numbers were “being used,” and that 500,000 people were receiving “benefits more than twice.”

“In February of this year, we asked for all the states — for the first time, to turn over their data to the federal government to let the USDA partner with them to root out this fraud. To make sure that those who really need food stamps are getting them,” Rollins said.

“But, also to ensure that the American taxpayer is protected. Twenty-nine states said yes, not surprisingly the red states, and that’s where all of that data — that fraud comes from.”

She said 21 states, including California, New York, and Minnesota, declined to share their data.

According to Rollins, “as of next week” the USDA will “stop moving federal funds into those states until they comply.”

Rollins discussed the findings further in an interview with Newsmax, where she reiterated the scale of the fraud uncovered through the data provided so far.

She said the USDA found that 186,000 “deceased men and women and children in this country are receiving a check,” adding that “this is just data from those 29 mostly red states.”

“Can you imagine when we get our hands on the blue state data what we’re gonna find?” Rollins said in the interview.

She pointed to additional irregularities first reported by Breitbart News.

As Rollins continued analyzing information from the 29 cooperating states, she discovered electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards with unusually high balances, including some exceeding $10,000.

Other cards had not been used for several years, and some had reportedly been “issued to people who never existed.”

Rollins said the USDA’s goal is to ensure that individuals in need receive assistance while preventing continued misuse of federal funds.

She emphasized that the cooperation of all states is necessary to complete the agency’s fraud review and carry out reforms intended to protect taxpayers and strengthen program integrity.

Trump Floats Another Major Move in Venezuela to Crush Drug Networks

President Donald Trump said during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday that the United States may carry out attacks on land in Venezuela as part of an expanding effort to target narcoterrorist networks.

The comment came after he was asked about recent U.S. military strikes on drug boats operating in the Caribbean.

“I want those boats taken out, and if we have to we’ll attack on land also, just like we attack on sea,” Trump said when questioned about an incident in which a narcoterrorism vessel was struck by two missiles.

Trump addressed whether he had knowledge of two surviving individuals after an initial strike on the vessel.

He said he was not aware of details regarding a follow-up strike.

“All I know is every boat that you see get blown up. We save 25,000 on average lives,” Trump said.

He also spoke about the volume of narcotics being trafficked to the United States, citing fentanyl as the most lethal threat.

“They’ve been sending enough this horrible fentanyl and other things like cocaine and other things, but fentanyl right now is the leader of the pack to kill our entire nation, because a little speck of the head of a pin can kill somebody,” Trump said.

“It’s very dangerous stuff. I know so many people with this up to our drug addicts, they had one little sample, and they died. They died. They were they couldn’t believe it.”

Trump said he believed U.S. military operations had significantly disrupted drug trafficking via maritime routes.

He estimated that the military has eliminated “90 percent of” the drug trafficking coming to the United States by sea.

He added that the strikes conducted under his administration are “saving hundreds of thousands of lives” domestically.

The president has recently intensified pressure on Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, accusing him of involvement in the trafficking of illicit substances to the United States.

Maduro has denied the allegations.

The United States has also accused Maduro of involvement in the Cartel de los Soles.

As part of that pressure campaign, the administration has expanded U.S. military activity in the region.

Trump previously declared Venezuelan airspace “closed in its entirety.”

In addition to the maritime operations already underway, the United States has increased its military presence off Venezuela’s coast and throughout Latin America.

Karoline Leavitt Pulls Out the Receipts to Cook NYT Reporters’ ‘Sleepy Trump’ Story

Trump White House officials pushed back this week after a New York Times report raised questions about President Donald Trump’s energy levels, citing a brief moment in which he appeared to nod off during an Oval Office meeting.

The report followed four years of scrutiny over Joe Biden’s health and public appearances, which had drawn widespread attention throughout his term.

The Times story referenced a short video clip published by an outside website and suggested it reflected a larger pattern, noting Trump’s schedule often includes fewer than four or five hours of sleep per night.

The clip circulated online over the weekend and was incorporated into the Times’ piece.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt responded by contrasting that reporting with coverage Biden received during his presidency.

She referenced Biden’s well-publicized incidents, including tripping on the stairs of Air Force One, stumbling over a sandbag during an event, wandering away from world leaders during a meeting and appearing to fall asleep at various public functions.

Leavitt also noted Biden frequently called early lids on his schedule, sometimes after only a few hours of activity.

During Biden’s term, press coverage routinely emphasized his vitality despite public moments that prompted questions about his physical condition.

Biden was also directed to use the shorter staircase on Air Force One after several falls on the main stairs.

Additional scrutiny arose after Biden disclosed in January 2025 that he had been treated for prostate cancer and that it had metastasized to his bones.

The disclosure came two days after his physician announced the diagnosis publicly. Biden had also previously been treated for multiple brain aneurysms in the 1980s.

The Times story about Trump’s schedule surfaced as comparisons between the two presidents’ health records re-entered public discussion.

Trump’s medical team recently released results from his MRI and routine check-up, which were provided to reporters last week.

The White House viewed the Times reporting as similar to previous political narratives targeting Trump.

Officials pointed to past controversies involving intelligence assessments, congressional investigations and disputes over impeachment and the 25th Amendment process.

They also highlighted prior disputes involving the Hunter Biden laptop case and reporting surrounding what critics have called “wrap-up smear” tactics.

The wrap-up smear concept, previously described publicly by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, refers to a political strategy in which allegations are circulated, reported on and then cited as validation.

The approach has been referenced in past disputes involving Trump’s critics and the national media.

The Times story comes as the administration continues its work on foreign policy, border enforcement and economic initiatives.

Trump has maintained a demanding travel schedule and public calendar since taking office in January 2025.

The comparison to Biden’s years in office remains a focal point of debate, with Trump officials arguing that questions regarding presidential stamina and health must be evaluated consistently across administrations.

Leavitt emphasized that the White House had provided medical documentation and that the administration would continue releasing routine health updates as required.

Inmate Escapes Atlanta Hospital After Suicide Attempt, Steals SUV and Handgun

Authorities in Georgia are searching for an inmate who escaped custody at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta early Monday morning, stole a vehicle, and fled with a missing handgun, as reported by The New York Post.

The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate as Timothy Shane, who had been transported to the hospital around 8 p.m. on Sunday for a medical evaluation following a reported suicide attempt.

According to the sheriff’s office, Shane escaped on foot during the early hours of Monday. Photos released by authorities show him running outside the hospital wearing a blue hospital gown.

Police Activity at Cape Canaveral Hospital Saturday night. The Cocoa Beach Police Department was on scene at the hospital investigating a suspicious incident. Also on scene was a heavy presence of BCSO. Fire trucks and ambulances were staged near the hospital on 520.

Shane has a known history of fleeing law enforcement and has faced felony drug and weapon charges.

Investigators say that shortly after leaving the hospital grounds, Shane allegedly stole an SUV parked nearby. The vehicle’s owner later reported that a Glock handgun was missing from inside the SUV.

Police say Shane crashed the vehicle soon after taking it and again fled on foot.

Oxnard police were investigating gunfire around Southwinds Park that reportedly left several teens injured Tuesday night, March 4, 2025.

Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office officials stated, “He should be considered armed and dangerous. Our agency, along with other assisting agencies, have multiple units in the area searching for inmate Shane.”

Shane is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a buzzed haircut. At the time of his escape, he was last seen wearing the blue hospital gown issued to him and no shoes.

Grady Memorial Hospital policy requires law enforcement agencies to maintain “one-to-one oversight” of inmates receiving treatment, according to information provided to Fox News Digital.

Authorities have not indicated how Shane managed to break away from officers during his hospital evaluation.

Jet Set Climate Doomer ‘Experts’ Set Another Meeting Just Weeks After COP30

The United Nations has brought together roughly 600 climate experts in France to begin preparing another major assessment on climate change, only weeks after about 50,000 people traveled to the COP30 summit in Belém, Brazil, where delegates concluded the event without reaching concrete agreements beyond scheduling future discussions.

French Ecological Transition Minister Monique Barbut addressed the assembled scientists in Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris, telling them their work was “extremely precious” at a time when, she said, multilateral efforts have weakened because of those who question the direction of international climate policy.

“There is also something that should concern us all: The rise of climate-related disinformation on our social media, in our newspapers and even at the heart of our policy political institutions,” Barbut said, according to AFP.

She added, “Too many people deny the results of your work,” speaking to experts from more than 100 countries gathered in a skyscraper for the meeting.

Skepticism toward international climate initiatives continues to be reflected in statements from President Donald Trump and his administration.

During a speech at the United Nations in September, the president called climate change the “greatest con job ever” and a “hoax.”

His remarks followed years of criticism of global climate negotiations, including his view that the process produces few actionable outcomes.

Katherine Calvin, a U.S. climate commentator and one of the lead authors of the upcoming Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, is among those participating in the process.

Calvin was removed from her position as chief scientist at NASA under orders from the Trump administration.

Speaking about the administration’s public position on climate change, an official at the French ecological transition ministry, who asked not to be identified, told AFP, “The statements, for example, from the American administration on the origin of climate change, the fact that it’s a hoax, if you will, we still find that quite surprising.”

The meeting in France marks the start of work on the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report, known as AR7, which is scheduled for release in either 2028 or 2029.

Delegates will contribute research and analysis intended to shape the next major installment of the panel’s findings.

Last month’s COP30 summit in Belém concluded with a declaration urging a mutirão, or “collective effort,” to avert what organizers described as a potential climate crisis.

The document offered few details on how countries should pursue those goals.

Participants suggested nations should triple their spending on climate-related initiatives over the next decade and use voluntary indicators to monitor environmental progress.

The declaration also announced plans for a “Global Implementation Accelerator,” a program intended to move countries away from fossil fuels, though the specific steps for doing so were not provided.

One of the most significant unresolved topics at COP30 involved the future of global fossil fuel use.

Delegates did not reach an agreement on how to address the issue, and it has been scheduled for further discussion at the next COP summit in Turkey in 2026.

Undeniable Fact: Obama Behind Years-Long Coup Against Trump, More Coming Out: Gabbard

Lara Trump opened her segment by asking Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to respond to comments from former President Barack Obama, who dismissed recent disclosures as meaningless.

Lara Trump said, “Director Gabbard, give me your response to what we heard from former President Obama there. He’s saying that none of this makes any sense, that this is a distraction. What do you say to that?”

Gabbard said the reaction from Obama and his allies followed a familiar pattern.

“It’s the art of deflection coming from former President Obama, as well as his friends who are still in Congress today, and Senator Warner and Congressman Jim Himes really all basically saying that exact same statement, which doesn’t actually address the issue that was revealed in great detail in the over 100 documents that we released last week, in the documents that we will be releasing later this week,” she said.

She said those records show that intelligence agencies reached a clear conclusion before and immediately after the 2016 election.

“The undeniable fact that you laid out in your introduction to this segment, is that the intelligence community had one assessment that Russia did not have the intent or capability to try to impact the outcome of the US election leading up to election day,” she said.

Gabbard added that the same assessment was made again after Donald Trump won the 2016 election.

Gabbard said the shift came only after a briefing at the National Security Council.

“It wasn’t until after that pulled President’s daily brief document that you referenced, that the principals committee was called in the National Security Council, and President Obama then directed then his Obama’s ODNI DNI James Clapper, to lead the effort to create this new intelligence community assessment that detailed not if, but how Moscow attempted to influence the outcome of the US election,” she said.

She argued that none of the statements coming from Obama’s office, Democratic lawmakers, or media allies addressed the core discrepancy.

“Neither the message from President Obama’s office, neither the statements coming from Democrats in Congress today and their friends in the propaganda media. None of them are addressing this fact that there was a shift, 180 degree shift from the intelligence community’s assessment leading up to the election to the one that President Obama directed be produced after Donald Trump won the election that completely contradicted those assessments that had come previously,” she said.

Gabbard also pointed to the people who signed off on the later assessment.

“In the clip that you played, you saw John Brennan, James Clapper, James Comey stated with high confidence this January intelligence community assessment that they drafted at the direction of President Obama,” she said.

She said the assessment relied on material that was already discredited.

“The fact is that they used already discredited information like the Steele dossier. They knew it was discredited at that time, yet they used it as a source for this document that they claim to have high confidence in.”

She said additional intelligence had previously been deemed unreliable.

“They used intelligence that some of these intelligence community professionals rejected previously because of the lack of credibility and the lack of the ability to vet with any kind of confidence whether or not that information or intelligence was accurate and could be used for an assessment,” Gabbard said.

She added that “a long laundry list of facts and intelligence reporting” contradicted the statements now being made by Obama’s office.

Gabbard said the documents point to a broader effort.

She said that “after Donald Trump was elected, led by President Obama, there was an effort to create an a doc, a document that would serve as a foundation for what would be a years long coup against President Trump, therefore trying to subvert the will of the American people who sent him to the White House in 2016.”

Lara Trump called the release of the documents significant.

“It’s amazing that you are now releasing all of this. And Tulsi, I have to tell you, for those of us who lived through it, thank you. I think it’s great that we’re getting this information out,” she said.

She then asked whether more disclosures were coming.

“You say there is more information. There are more documents to be released. Anything you can tell us on that?”

Gabbard said more material would be made public soon.

“We will be releasing these documents shortly in the wake of the release that we did last week, I’m very encouraged by the fact that we have whistle blowers coming forward who are intelligence community professionals who were there when this happened, and who were disgusted by it and are heartened at the possibility and the hope that the truth will see the light of day,” she said.

She said the disclosures were being forwarded to federal prosecutors.

“We are referring and have already sent all of the documents that we have currently and any others that we get in the future to the Department of Justice to bring about that accountability,” Gabbard said.

She added that the goal is to protect trust in the system: “to ensure that the integrity of our democratic republic exists, that the American people can have faith and trust that who they vote for in our elections to be elected will actually be respected by those who are leaving power.”

Debbie Wasserman Blames Trump Policies, Gun Violence for Afghan National Attack in DC

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said Friday that President Donald Trump bears responsibility for the death of a National Guard member killed in an ambush-style shooting in Washington, D.C.

The attack on Wednesday left National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom dead and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe in critical condition.

Left-wing commentators have argued that the shooting occurred only because of Trump’s orders to deploy National Guard personnel in U.S. cities.

During an interview on CNN, host Sara Sidner asked Wasserman Schultz about the incident as officials continued to investigate the attack.

Wasserman Schultz said the shooting “begs the question, would an individual have flown across the country to target law enforcement officers in Washington, D.C.? And, I mean, the answer is likely no. So, why wasn’t the president’s first thought, ‘Wow, you know, maybe I should reconsider deploying military troops in the nation’s capital or in any city?’”

She added, “Particularly not when they haven’t coordinated closely with the leadership of these cities and when we have law enforcement that are quite capable of handling the criminal justice issues that are — that we need law enforcement to focus on, and not our military.”

President Trump has said he ordered the deployment because local law enforcement had been unable to address rising crime in cities suffering from years of public safety problems.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said at a news conference earlier this year that the federal surge contributed to a reduction in crime, including an 87% decrease in carjackings.

Authorities said Wednesday’s shooting was carried out by an Afghan national.

Following the attack, Trump called for halting mass migration from what he described as the “Third World” and announced plans for “reverse migration.”

Sidner noted that “days before the shooting, the public learned through reporting that the Trump administration had planned to review and reinterview refugees that came in during the Biden administration.”

Wasserman Schultz said, “I just think that any administration needs to be careful about making sweeping generalizations. If there were gaps that admitted this person, they would have failed over multiple levels of gaps. And this individual was trusted enough to participate in assisting our military during the war in Afghanistan.”

She said Trump should examine his own decisions.

“The president looks everywhere except inward to blame his own policies. We need to make sure that we don’t have our military deployed in our cities, doing — handling law enforcement responsibilities,” she said.

“We certainly need to make sure we always have the proper and appropriate and tight, tight vetting processes, and those should be reviewed. But it’s never the president’s fault or his policies when it comes to his reaction, and it’s pretty disgusting.”

The White House issued a response Friday criticizing Wasserman Schultz’s comments.

Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson wrote, “This animal would’ve never been here if not for Joe Biden’s dangerous policies, which allowed countless unvetted criminals to invade our country and harm the American people. The Trump administration is taking every measure possible — in the face of unrelenting Democrat opposition — to get these monsters out of our country and clean up the mess made by the Biden administration. Instead of defending terrorists, the Democrats should join us in protecting the American people.”

Trump Declares All Biden Autopen-Signed Documents ‘Terminated’ After Internal Emails Surface

President Donald Trump on Friday announced that any document or executive action signed by former President Joe Biden using an autopen is now void, citing newly released internal communications showing Biden did not personally review or approve thousands of official acts during his presidency, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

In a statement posted to Truth Social, President Trump declared, “Any document signed by Sleepy Joe Biden with the Autopen, which was approximately 92% of them, is hereby terminated, and of no further force or effect. The Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the President of the United States.”

WASHINGTON – February 22, 2025: President Donald Trump arrives at the White House South Lawn on Marine One after his visit to CPAC.

Trump said Biden’s aides took over decision-making near the end of his term. “The Radical Left Lunatics circling Biden around the beautiful Resolute Desk in the Oval Office took the Presidency away from him,” Trump wrote.

“I am hereby cancelling all Executive Orders, and anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden, because the people who operated the Autopen did so illegally. Joe Biden was not involved in the Autopen process and, if he says he was, he will be brought up on charges of perjury. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump’s declaration follows the release of internal emails confirming Biden did not review or approve thousands of pardons issued at the end of his presidency.

According to those emails, Biden’s staff chose which individuals would receive pardons and signed them using the autopen without receiving Biden’s direct input.

The emails also indicated that Biden did not personally approve revisions made to the final list of inmates. Instead, the updated list was reportedly processed through the autopen by staff members without Biden signing off.

The White House Counsel’s Office has opened an investigation into the autopen controversy and is expected to review more than one million documents as part of the inquiry.

The Oversight Project, which first uncovered the practice, previously revealed that thousands of clemency decisions and executive actions were executed using an autopen rather than Biden’s physical signature.

Earlier this year, the organization reported that six individuals were pardoned by autopen on December 30, 2022, while Biden was vacationing and golfing in St. Croix.

Federal investigators have not yet released a timeline for completing their review of the autopen records, and it remains unclear how many total documents will be implicated by the internal email disclosures.

Kamala Harris ROASTED After Posting Thanksgiving Collard Greens Cooking Video

Vice President Kamala Harris faced widespread online criticism Thursday after posting a TikTok video showing herself preparing collard greens for Thanksgiving alongside her nieces, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

The short clip, which Harris shared during the holiday, quickly drew reactions referencing her past comments about how she prepares the dish.

In the video, Harris says, “We are preparing collard greens!” before continuing her holiday cooking demonstration.

The post sparked renewed discussion about remarks Harris made last year while speaking to a voter in Georgia during the 2024 campaign cycle. At the time, she said she used to clean collard greens in the bathtub.

“I have a friend who had a Christmas party, Christmas Eve every year, and she asked me to make the greens for a party every year. And I am not lying to you that I would make so many greens that I’d need to wash them in the bathtub. I’m telling you the truth,” Harris told a black voter in 2024.

During that same exchange, Harris told the voter she uses Tabasco sauce to give her greens additional flavor and said she based her method in part on family tradition. She said her grandmother prepared collard greens with bacon, garlic, and white vinegar.

“My grandma used to put bacon. She used to put garlic. I put white vinegar. So I start with… I slice up My garlic. But first I fry, chop up the bacon and get all that fat going. Then I put garlic, some chili peppers, and then a lot of water, and a little chicken stock. And I let it go for a while before I put the greens in. And then, right? So you get that going and all that flavor. And then I put the greens in for a couple of hours. Then I do vinegar, and then I cheat and do a little Tabasco,” Harris said.

Harris also told the voter that she prefers “Louisiana hot” and added, “Yeah, because Tabasco, I like Louisiana hot. Tabasco has that right amount of vinegar. So that’s how I do my green.”

Harris grew up in Canada with an Indian mother, a detail critics revisited after the TikTok video circulated.

Social media users reacted quickly to Harris’ Thanksgiving post, with many questioning the authenticity of her presentation.

Comments posted across multiple platforms included, “Kamala’s cooking is as authentic as her political career. Show’s over, folks,” and “Those are some wilted ass collards. I won’t even feed greens that wilted to my bearded dragon. No one is eating those.” Another user wrote, “Nothing warms your heart like a good old-fashioned ethnic charade.”

The Vice President’s office did not issue a statement regarding the online reaction to the video. Harris continued posting holiday-themed content throughout the day.

Squishy Indiana Republican Sinks GOP Effort Over ‘Seriously Retarded’ Tim Walz Comment

Indiana State Senator Michael Bohacek said Friday that he will refuse to vote for the state’s redistricting plan after President Donald Trump criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in a Thanksgiving night post on X.

The redistricting proposal is backed by President Trump and could add two Republican seats to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections.

Late Thursday, President Trump posted that he plans to halt all immigration — legal and illegal — from third-world countries and from individuals who harbor negative views toward the United States.

In the middle of the post, Trump criticized leaders in Minnesota in connection with concerns over the state’s Somali population.

Trump wrote, “The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst ‘Congressman/woman’ in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother.”

Hours after the post, Bohacek wrote on Facebook that he would vote against the redistricting plan. He said his decision was based on Trump’s choice of language.

“Many of you have asked my position on redistricting. I have been an unapologetic advocate for people with intellectual disabilities since the birth of my second daughter. Those of you that don’t know me or my family might not know that my daughter has Down Syndrome,” Bohacek wrote.

“This is not the first time our president has used these insulting and derogatory references and his choices of words have consequences. I will be voting NO on redistricting, perhaps he can use the next 10 months to convince voters that his policies and behavior deserve a congressional majority.”

The post prompted immediate backlash from Republican voters.

Florida’s Voice contributor Eric Daugherty responded, “What a freaking child. Primary this weak ‘Republican.’ Outrageous. Grandstanding when our nation is at stake? Caving to Gavin Newsom and the Democrat Country-Destroyers is your play because you’re OFFENDED?”

Critics also referenced Bohacek’s past drunk driving case.

Bohacek, who represents Michiana Shores, was involved in a drunk driving incident in Michigan City.

A witness reported seeing him drinking from an open container and stumbling out of his vehicle in a Panda Express parking lot before he drove off in a Dodge Charger.

Police stopped him for driving 62 mph in a 45 mph zone on U.S. 20.

A blood test at a hospital showed a blood alcohol level of 0.28 percent, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Under Indiana’s legislative immunity provision, lawmakers cannot be arrested during the General Assembly session except for treason, felonies, or breaches of peace.

Bohacek was not arrested at the scene and was driven home.

After the session concluded, formal charges were filed in May 2025, including operating while intoxicated with endangerment and operating with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent or higher.

In August 2025, he accepted a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor operating while intoxicated charge.

Bohacek’s decision on redistricting could influence the balance of power in the U.S. House next November.

Several blue states have implemented new maps that strengthen Democratic positions, while Republican states such as Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina have advanced redistricting efforts to address census “errors” that they argue undercounted red states and benefited Democrat-controlled states.
