Investigative journalist John Solomon and commentator Carl Higbie argued that newly disclosed information raises additional questions about how federal intelligence and law enforcement officials handled evidence related to Hunter Biden during the 2020 election cycle.
During a recent discussion, Solomon contended that while his reporting on Hunter Biden and Burisma was publicly dismissed as disinformation in 2020, federal investigators already possessed evidence that he says corroborated many of the underlying allegations.
“First off, in the summer 2020, when people were calling my reporting on Hunter Biden and Burisma disinformation or conspiracy theory, we now know the FBI had Hunter Biden’s laptop with all the evidence of the pay-to-play that Congress would later show to us, and it had 14 informants, 14 confidential human sources providing them derogatory information on Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and the Biden crime family.”
According to Solomon, he believes a small group of FBI analysts worked to diminish the credibility of that information rather than advance it.
“Despite that, a small team of analysts was going in and trying to neutralize that information.”
Solomon contrasted those actions with what he said was taking place elsewhere inside the Justice Department.
“Now, keep in mind, while the FBI’s doing this, while it’s neutralizing the Ukraine narrative, the Burisma Ukraine narrative, its sitting Attorney General, Bill Barr, is actually investigating.”
He said Barr had directed a federal prosecutor to evaluate whether criminal charges were warranted.
“He’s asked a prosecutor in Pittsburgh to look at the evidence and see if there are some criminal charges warranted.”
According to Solomon, while that review was underway, the analyst team allegedly took actions affecting the credibility of confidential human sources.
“While that prosecutor’s looking at the information and the underlying confidential human sources that are providing it, the FBI’s analyst team, the Round River team, is going into the files of those informants and marking them Russian disinformation so that they would be useless or neutralized or not trusted to for the purpose of investigation.”
Solomon argued that those actions shielded then-presidential candidate Joe Biden from scrutiny.
“It was the ultimate protection racket for Joe Biden done at taxpayers expense.”
He also referenced the October 2020 public letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials regarding the Hunter Biden laptop story.
“And I think we all thought when the letter came out back in October 2020 from the 51 intelligence experts that maybe the intelligence community put their thumb on the scale.”
Solomon said he now believes the effort extended much further.
“I think we now know they threw their whole body on the scale. This operation was protecting every aspect of Joe Biden’s corruption.”
Higbie responded by arguing that the intelligence community has increasingly operated in a partisan manner.
“That’s what I’ve been talking about. It’s like the intel community I was just talking about this. The intel community has literally been weaponized in favor of Democrats.”
He asserted that officials targeted the credibility of sources rather than addressing the information they provided.
“And when they don’t like the facts, they go after the source of the facts. It’s like, Oh, this guy’s not credible. Like, this to me is insane.”
Higbie then returned to Solomon’s description of the confidential human sources.
“You also report that the effort to portray Joe Biden, the the scandal as Russian disinformation, like, Everything’s Russia. This The 14, you said, informants were providing this information, and instead of being like, Guys, we got a problem, they were like, No, no. All these people are bad, and we should silence them.”
Solomon responded that he believes newly available information paints a more complete picture of how the Hunter Biden narrative developed during the 2020 campaign.
“Yeah, listen, now we have a much picture a much bigger a better picture of the menagerie that’s going on.”
He argued that the Biden campaign, former intelligence officials and elements within the intelligence community all contributed to discrediting the story.
“You’ve got the Biden campaign develops the theme that we’re going to call the Hunter Biden stuff Russian disinformation and conspiracy theory. Then you’re going to have 51 intelligence analysts go out, write a bogus letter saying, Don’t believe the Hunter Biden laptop, even though the FBI has it and has corroborated it.”
Solomon concluded by alleging that longtime confidential human sources were also discredited despite years of cooperation with investigators.
“And then you have the intelligence community going out and discrediting long-term confidential human sources who have been providing information, some as far back as 2008. So these are long-term, reliable confidential human sources, and they’re putting their body in front of any criminal investigation.”
