Democrats just cannot resist turning every wealthy American who refuses to bow to their big government agenda into a villain.
This week it is Representative Ro Khanna of California who decided to wage a personal crusade against Elon Musk.
The tech billionaire has long been a favorite punching bag for progressives, but now Khanna is taking the obsession to a whole new level.
Khanna recently claimed that if the government confiscated five percent of Musk’s wealth, it could fund universal childcare or pay off student loans.
Ro Khanna has yet another idea on what could be paid for by taxing Elon:
“For 5% tax one time on Elon Musk, you could have universal child care in America. $10 a day for every family.”
Ro never stops daydreaming about different ways to spend Elon’s money. https://t.co/ExhlpqYqXh pic.twitter.com/2ufJp0kbu2

That is the typical leftist fantasy that government should pick winners and losers while ignoring basic economics.
If Washington ever seized the fortunes of innovators like Musk, the money would vanish into an endless bureaucracy and never reach the people they claim to help.
Musk was not about to let that slide.
Calling Khanna an “evil liar,” he reminded everyone that the congressman himself is a multimillionaire.
He’s such an evil liar

Musk’s response hit a nerve because it exposed the truth that Khanna and his colleagues love to virtue signal with other people’s money while hoarding their own.
Then Khanna pushed things into absurd territory by suggesting that Musk should be subpoenaed and investigated for allegedly “sentencing millions of children to death” because of cuts to the United States Agency for International Development.
According to Khanna, Musk’s supposed involvement in reorganizing or limiting USAID through the Department of Government Efficiency amounted to a humanitarian crime.
This is the sort of delusional rhetoric that defines today’s Democratic Party.
Khanna told his followers, “Once we take power, there has to be accountability. There needs to be accountability for Elon Musk.”
He went on to claim that while Musk created 4,400 millionaires, he simultaneously condemned 4.5 million children by dismantling USAID programs.
He said Musk “needs to be subpoenaed” and “face investigation” for his role.
For good measure, Khanna also promised investigations into actions taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and American military strikes against cartels and hostile foreign regimes.
WATCH:
It was an unhinged manifesto framed as a plan for “accountability.”
What Khanna really revealed was the left’s obsession with punishing anyone who disrupts their government-first worldview.
He accused Musk of obstructing the global aid machine, but offered no facts beyond wild speculation.
It is another example of Democrat theatrics designed to intimidate rather than inform.
Ironically, while Khanna paints himself as a champion of the poor, his own wealth and elite connections tell a different story.
Conservatives rightly view this attack as outrageous.
The truth is that USAID has long operated with questionable motives overseas.
Senator Marco Rubio publicly noted that in some cases, the agency worked at cross purposes with American embassies and even interfered in political affairs of foreign nations.
Rubio said this behavior undermined both our national interest and the credibility of the United States abroad.
If there is anything in the aid bureaucracy that deserves investigation, it is that kind of mismanagement, not Musk’s efforts to save taxpayer money.
Musk, unlike most of Washington, actually builds things, creates jobs, and drives innovation.
He has powered hundreds of thousands of new careers through companies like SpaceX and Tesla.
Democrats who despise success simply cannot stand that a private citizen accomplishes more for humanity than their endless committees and spending bills ever will.
The deeper issue here is that Khanna and his allies see private enterprise as a threat to their control.
They do not celebrate independence; they demand submission to government authority. From student loans to global aid, their solution is always the same: take from the productive to fund more bureaucracy.
What frightens them about Musk is not his wealth but his refusal to play along.
Now reports suggest that Musk could be preparing legal steps of his own as Khanna’s threats grow louder.
While details remain private, sources close to Musk indicate he will not allow politically motivated attacks to smear his record or his companies.
If that happens, Khanna might learn the hard way that using government power to harass political enemies has consequences.
Republican lawmakers are already rallying behind Musk, pointing out the absurdity of calling cost-cutting at USAID a crime.
They argue that trimming waste at overseas agencies aligns with efforts to protect taxpayers and focus on America’s real priorities.
This reaction has only further enraged Democrats who view every attempt to reduce spending as sabotage.
The battle over USAID highlights the fundamental divide between conservatives and progressives.
One side believes in efficient, accountable government and the freedom of individuals to innovate.
The other side sees the state as an all-powerful moral authority entitled to punish dissenters.
Ro Khanna’s tirade is simply the latest example of what happens when ideology replaces reason.
Elon Musk has made clear he is not intimidated. Whether it is space travel, electric cars, or reforming bloated agencies, he continues to move ahead while his critics rage on social media.
The rest of America is watching, and the contrast could not be sharper.
One man is building the future, and the other is making threats in the name of politics.
