Have you noticed something over, say, the past 10 years about how women in public talk to men in public? It started much farther in the past than 10 years ago, sure, but it’s really ramped up. In the public, political, and professional spheres, women have been taking the most extraordinary liberties when addressing male colleagues. To put it in plain language, they’ve been given cultural permission to be harpies and shrews. They mock men, they condescend to them, they talk to them the way an angry spinster school teacher would dress down a juvenile delinquent.
The same thing goes on in the august halls of Congress. Female representatives and senators regularly try to bully male members of the Trump administration. But since Trump put actual men in his cabinet, the ladies have been having a hard time running their usual social con game. Masculine, competent men like Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth especially irritate them.
Take a look at Senator Jacky Rosen, Democrat of Chicago, losing her composure when Hegseth reminded her that her question time was over.
Rosen accuses Hegseth of being incompetent and “feckless.” At the end of her diatribe, Hegseth says calmly, “Time’s up, Senator.”
