CBS News Accused Of Editing An Interview To Favor Democrats… Again

House Speaker Mike Johnson accused CBS News of selectively editing interviews to favor Democrats and hinder Republicans.

The Republican Speaker posted a thread on the social media platform X detailing instances where interviews had been cut, or edited, by the broadcaster.

“CBS has been under fire for selectively editing their interviews to promote Democrats and undermine Republicans,” Speaker Johnson wrote on X. “Yesterday, they chose to cut FIVE important minutes out of my nearly 15-minute interview.”

Johnson shared a clip of a Fox & Friends First, where one of his text messages were read out in which he declared he would never conduct a pre-recorded interview with CBS again.

The House Speaker then shared examples of malicious editing. In the first, Johnson’s remarks about people impacted by Hurricane Helene first-hand were cut out of the interview.

CBS also edited a clip regarding non-citizen voting. Specifically, the broadcaster removed Johnson’s comments praising the actions of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who has led efforts to ensure a fair election within his jurisdiction.

Last, but by no means, Johnson shared a clip discussing the SAVE Act which was edited out by CBS.

Although broadcasters regularly edit pre-recorded interviews, it is considered deeply unprofessional to do so in a way which may favor one candidate over another.

It’s not the first time CBS has been accused of this behavior, with Kamala Harris’ “60 Minutes” interview receiving the same edited treatment.
