Husband/Body Guard of Former ‘Squad’ Member Cori Bush Indicted for Covid Fraud

The room is getting a little warmer for former House Rep. from Missouri, Democrat Cori Bush, as her husband just got slapped with fraud charges. The Dept. of Justice indicted Cortney Merritts for allegedly lying on applications for Covid relief money. The feds claim that Merritts gave false information in order to get his hands on $21,000 from various programs meant to help businesses stay afloat during the shutdowns, as well money to compensate him for alleged economic injury. 

The money Merritts received came from the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program. The PPP was set up to give businesses what it called “forgivable” loans to keep meeting payroll during a time when (illegal) state and federal shut-down orders put businesses small and large out of commission during the pandemic. In reality, these weren’t loans, but direct grants that did not have to be repaid. Of the $793 billion given out, $760 billion was forgiven. 

Whenever there’s money to be had from the government, there are going to be scams. The inspector general for the Small Business Administration, which disbursed the money, claimed in a 2022 report that up to 70,000 “loans” were probably fraudulent. 

Collin Rugg brought the news to X/Twitter, along with some archival footage of Bush banging on about how she was going to “transform policing”:

The indictment of Bush’s husband Cortney Merritts is new, and not many details are available yet. And while it does not appear that the indictment of Merritts is connected to an ongoing investigation into whether Bush improperly spent campaign funds on personal security, it’s worth noting that her husband, Merritts, was in charge of her security operation. It seems likely that Bush herself may be headed for trouble, though there has not been any recent updates on the campaign finance investigation. 

Cori Bush made a name for herself as a congresswoman whose modus operandi could be summed up as “give me and other black people taxpayer money.” In 2023 she introduced a bill to give black Americans a ridiculous $14 trillion (yes, trillion with a ‘t’) in “reparations” for slavery. She was a member of the colloquially named “Squad,” a group of histrionic Democrat and progressive black and “woman of color” legislators who claim racism, misogyny, and colonialism are oppressing them all day every day. 

Bush lost the primary for her seat in 2024. Badly.

Bush’s most memorable moment was when she camped out on the steps of the Capitol in 2021 surrounded by family-sized boxes of potato chips and cookies. She was sleeping rough to protest the end of the (ruled unconstitutional) eviction freeze illegally foisted on American landlords by the Centers for Disease Control under President Joe Biden.

Are Daily Arson Attacks on Tesla Just More “New Normal”?

During the alleged pandemic, people began using the term “new normal” as if that phrase was itself normal and unremarkable.

Millions of us watched as the people we thought we knew—our spouses, parents, children—immediately buckled under to a world none of us signed up for. Governor issues an illegal order telling state residents they can’t walk outside on the street with someone who doesn’t live with them? No protest, just a shrug and “new normal.”

The president gets on television and vocally yells at people who refuse experimental vaccines, saying his patience is wearing out with Americans? Shrug and “new normal.”

The phrase “new normal” struck fear in those of us who were paying attention to what was going on. We knew that this signaled docility and compliance among our countrymen. We correctly predicted that the majority of Americans would forgo their constitutional rights, and they’d tattle on their own family members who broke any “new normal” decree. 

We’re still living in new normal, and the definition is expanding. New normal now includes leftist violence and property destruction any time the hard left doesn’t like a person or policy. Violent “activists” learned during the BLM riots of 2020 that they could, in fact, get away with burning buildings, assaulting police, and taking over entire sections of a city. No one was going to do a damned thing.

It’s no surprise, then, that deranged leftists have been targeting Tesla car dealerships around the country for vandalism and arson. Our soft-on-crime-when-it’s-lefties policies under Joe Biden have emboldened radicals. On March 18 as-yet-unapprehended vandals set fire to multiple models at a Tesla dealership in Las Vegas. Police say they threw molotov cocktails in what law enforcement described as a “targeted attack.” This is just the latest in a series of arson and vandalism attacks at Tesla dealerships. Why? Because leftist radicals hate the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk. 

And in new normal times, if you hate someone enough, you’re allowed to hurt them or destroy their property. Seriously, readers: It’s not normal to see “another attack on a car dealership” in the news every single day.

World Disappointed As Leftists Fake Dying in Protest at Stock Exchange

Liberal protestors have upped their game since the days of now quaint-seeming sit-ins on college campuses. There’s a furore over whether the Trump administration is right to deport green-card-holding non-citizen Mahmoud Khalil for what it says is his support for terrorist organizations like Hamas. The controversy shows how far we’ve traveled from what anyone would call peaceful protest to, today, students taking over campus buildings, breaking windows, and preventing other students from walking freely on campuses like Columbia where Khalil was active. 

When did “protest” become synonymous with criminal vandalism and threats and intimidation aimed at fellow students? It’s been at least since 2020, when Black Lives Matter “protestors” rioted in cities across the U.S., burning public and private buildings, cars, and more. The “protests” caused more than $1 billion in damage (that’s just counting the insurance claims), the most in U.S. history. The leftist media showed its naked contempt for reality and viewers, of course, by labeling the violence as “mostly peaceful.” CNN was widely ridiculed for showing live images of a burning city while the on-screen label called the violence “fiery but mostly peaceful protests”. 

For modern protestors who don’t want to go all the to violence, but who instead want to appear to be “victims,” we have a melodramatist’s delight: the “die-in.” This is where demonstrators lie on the ground pretending to be dead in the mistaken belief that such a histrionic display will convince onlookers that their cause is righteous. 

A group of Democrat theater kids just held a die-in in front of the New York Stock Exchange. They were “dying” in protest of what  they claim were acts of harm done to them by President Trump, and especially by Elon Musk as he slashes through wasteful government spending. 

Let’s take a look at the “gravestones” and see what they indicate about the protestors’ frame of mind. 

“Fatal infection-abortion ban”—It was abortion bans that drove them to it, see? The woman had no responsibility for getting pregnant. 

“Elon fired bird flu monitoring”—You got that? There weren’t enough monitors for bird flu, so humans are dying of a bird flu that doesn’t affect humans. 

“SNAP cuts killed me”— “SNAP” (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is the new word so no one has to say “food stamps.” Apparently changes to the program killed the protestor despite the fact that he or she does not appear to be starving in the video.

Congressional Transvestite Calls Republicans “Weird”

Imagine you’re at a bar at 2 pm. You’ve never been there, and you see that the bar is full of regulars who appear to know each other. They seem affable, but you know you’re the new guy, and you’re walking into their territory. It’s up to you to fit in with the crowd, not the other way around. 

The main guy doing all the talking points out the window to the parking lot. Since it’s mid-afternoon, the sun is blazing down on the cars. But he says, “Man, it’s getting darker and darker as summer comes on. By tomorrow it’s going to be impossible to find your car without a flashlight by the time 3 o’clock rolls around.” Everyone at the bar agrees, and many chip in with stories about how they stubbed their toes or twisted their ankles trying to pick their way through the darkness of full summer sun when they were kids. 

I know what you’re thinking, reader. You’re thinking you’d immediately recognize that they were all suffering from a mass delusion, and you’d leave.

Not so fast. There’s a very good chance you’d start questioning your own sanity. Is he right? Does the sun make it dark outside, and you’ve been misled your whole life? After all, everybody else at the bar agrees; what if it’s me who’s crazy? 

This is how the “reversal” or the “big lie” works. If you tell the opposite of the truth with enough conviction, and with a show of social solidarity on your side, you absolutely can convince normal, sane people to disbelieve their own eyes and start questioning their sanity. 

Transgenderism got as far as it did in society because it uses the reversal, the big lie. It brazenly claims that men are women, and acts genuinely shocked when you disagree. People are so stunned by this that they stay silent, and then, person by person, they start agreeing. 

Yesterday we brought you a story about Democrat House member Bill Keating losing his composure and shouting at committee chairman Ken Self because Self correctly referred to another lawmaker as “Mr. McBride.” He was referring to “Sarah” (nee Tim) McBride, a male representative from Delaware who wears dresses and calls himself a woman. The big reversal worked on Rep. Keating, who seemed genuinely emotionally triggered and angry that anyone could call the obvious male McBride an obvious male. He was offended and personally upset by a statement of reality. 

Today, the day after the incident, McBride is working the big lie/reversal as hard as possible. And it works on anyone who’s on the left. True to narcissistic form, he spoke at a press conference about how people who won’t call men women are “weird” and obsessed with “weird” issues. Yes, it’s brazen, and that’s why it works. 

Complete with valley girl vocal fry, and “on point” with au courant phrases—”I appear to live rent-free in the minds of some of my Republican colleagues”—McBride managed to reverse the truth about just who is “weird” and it got the approval of his Democrat colleagues.

Democrat Melts Down When Committee Chair Won’t Call a Man “She”

Parenting guides have been published for at least several hundred years in the West, full of advice on everything from diet, to curing colic, to whether and how to “sleep train” a baby. But we need a guide for how to parent adult babies, otherwise known as Democratic lawmakers. So far, the only option most people can think of to deal with the left’s temper tantrums is to let them cry it out. 

And oh, are they crying it out. The sour faces, heckling, shouting, and infantile signs—”Musk Steals!”—of the Democrat half of the Senate during President Trump’s first address to a joint session of Congress was the most immature display in politics in living memory. Even the lunatic-left Washington Post acknowledged it, though in the gentlest possible language, calling the party’s behavior a “low ebb.”

Transgender ideology, even more than shoveling endless billions to Ukraine, seems to be the issue that brings your average Democrat to hysteria quicker than anything else. Republican Representative Keith Self of Texas learned this when he referred to another male member of the House as  “Mr. McBride.” Self’s colleague, Massachusetts Democrat Bill Keating, jerked like a dog on a chain and started barking at Rep. Self. 

Why? Because Self referred to “Mr. McBride.” The Democratic Representative from Delaware is a man formerly known as Tim McBride who now calls himself Sarah McBride, and tells the world that he is a woman. 

McBride immediately referred to Chairman Self as “Madam Chair” right back, I guess in an attempt to “show him what misgendering feels like.” It doesn’t make much sense, because McBride was being correctly gendered the whole time.

Bill Keating didn’t think that McBride could defend himself, apparently, and rushed in like a knight errant to defend the “lady’s” honor. “Would you repeat what you just  said,” he asked Rep. Self in an outraged voice. 

Representative Keating got even more emotional, pulling a McCarthy-hearing-moment on Self, spluttering, “have you no decency?” and telling the chairman that he was “out of order” and that he, Keating, would not be participating in any hearing until Self agreed to call McBride a woman.

Why is USAID Shredding Docs? Cover-up or Standard Practice?

What’s going on at the soon-to-be defunct U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)? Well, lots of document shredding, but for what purpose, and whether this is standard operating procedure or an attempt to cover up malfeasance, is not clear. 

Politico reports that a “senior official” at the troubled agency sent an email to all staff instructing them to destroy “sensitive” documents. 

USAID has come under fire from the Trump administration for wasteful spending on international projects that seem to have nothing at all to do with benefiting the United States. Worse, the agency has been funding “woke” projects on transgenderism and more in foreign countries. 

Here’s just a short list of the grants the agency has disbursed to foreign countries, according to a summary from the White House:

—$1.5 million for “diversity, equity and inclusion” in Serbia

—$6 million to boost Egypt’s tourist trade

—$47,000 for a “transgender opera” mounted in Colombia

—$32,000 for what’s described as a “transgender comic book” to be published in Peru

—$2 million for sex change operations for the citizens of Guatemala

You get the picture. President Donald Trump has targeted USAID for closure,  which sparked a flurry of lawsuits by left-aligned interest groups. As of March 11, 2025, a federal court has ordered the Trump administration to pay out $671 million in USAID money owed to contractors who have already completed projects for the agency. But, it appears the courts recognize the administration’s authority to shut the agency down after making good on its back bills, and that’s exactly what Trump is doing. 

That brings us to the order from USAID officials to employees to shred documents. While the media is full of reports on this, it is not yet clear what’s going on. Is this a brazen and illegal attempt by fleeing officials to cover up misdeeds? Or, is it standard operating procedure related to sensitive or classified documents? It’s murky, but a union that apparently represents contractors working for USAID (really?) has asked federal courts to step in to stop the destruction of documents. 

According to Politico, a supervisor instructed employees by email to “Shred as many documents first, and reserve the burn bags for when the shredder becomes unavailable or needs a break.”

It will be at least one or two more days before the fog around this situation clears. Meanwhile X/Twitter users are speculating. Most seem to think it’s “extra-legal”:

Crocodile Tears or the Real Thing? HS Runner Accused of Assault Says It Was an Accident

Given the last five-to-ten years of wokeness, Americans are used to living in Opposite Land. Activists, leftist politicians, and the media have “educated” us on how everything we thought we knew about the world and the humans who live in it is wrong. Not just wrong, but exactly backwards. Men are women, and women are men. Morbid obesity is healthy. Censorship is freedom. Free speech is fascism. 

This extended version of Freaky Friday rests on what I call the narcissistic reversal. Genuinely narcissistic people reverse the truth to duck out of responsibility for their own bad behavior.  If they harass and malign a coworker, they claim that their target is really the one trying to ruin their reputation. When they lose their temper and scream demands at friends or loved ones, they’ll quickly turn on the tears and claim the victim of their tirade was “being angry and threatening.”

What’s so frustrating is that it works. Most people are fundamentally decent, and they mistakenly believe that must mean that every other person is fundamentally decent. Since I’d never lie and accuse someone of stealing from me if I was the one who took her possessions, then surely no one else would reverse the truth like that, we say to ourselves. It’s this naivete that has allowed American society to become so selfish, callous, rude, and entitled. For years there’s been little to no effective pushback on freeloaders, thieves, whiners, and socially maladapted people who make life miserable for everyone else. 

The young track runner in the video below may be counting on this state of affairs to get her out of what appears to be plain old assault. Collin Rugg posted this video on X showing a moment from a high school girls’ track competition. In the video, two runners are going around the track close together. The clip appears to show one runner, Alaila Everett, repeatedly hitting her fellow runner on the back of the head with a baton: 

What really happened? It’s impossible to say with certainty, but the baton strike sure does look intentional. But according to a tearful Everett, it was an accident. In an interview with a local television station, Everett claims she was merely pumping her arms and did not intentionally hit her fellow runner Kaelen Tucker. For her part, Tucker says she got a concussion when Everett’s baton struck her head. 

In the interview, a crying Everett said she didn’t do it on purpose, and she’s upset with Tucker for not acknowledging her (Everett’s, the one with the baton) “mental” feelings, which are also hurt. 

What do you think? To this writer, Everett doesn’t seem very believable. It does look like an intentional strike, and Everett’s later news interview does come across as a bully who turned on the tears to get out of trouble. At this point, no one can say.

Simpering Starlet “Honors” Prostitutes at Oscars, Because of Course

We’ve long called prostitution the world’s oldest profession, but somehow in the first part of the 21st century it’s been elevated to one of the most prestigious. At least, for the left half of the country, and that includes the celebrity class. 

At the Oscars on Sunday night, yet another actress unknown to anyone above the age of 26 was catapulted to the stars when she won the best actress award for her portrayal of a hooker with a heart of gold in the movie Anora. In Hollywood, all hookers have hearts of gold, naturally. Julia Roberts glamorized selling sex for money in the immensely popular movie Pretty Woman 35 years ago. The message was that prostitutes are pretty and sweet, and one day a gorgeous Richard Gere will come along and make an honest woman out of each and every one. 

In Anora, actress Mikey Madison plays a Brooklyn prostitute swept off her feet by a handsome young Russian entrepreneur. His Russian family doesn’t want him marrying a call girl (can you blame them) and predictable hijinks ensue. So there’s not much of a change in formula for the Hollywood hooker-goes-good story, except that the hookers don’t have to travel so far to get to “good” anymore. 

See, they’ve been given what the kids call an image “glow-up.” When was the last time you heard a woman who sells her body called a “prostitute” or a “hooker?” My guess is that it’s been at least six or seven years. In that time, the euphemism treadmill caught up with the subject matter, and since then, they’ve been called “sex workers.” This linguistic shift was pushed by the woke left, who spent a few years going around bellowing that “sex work is work!” The Marxian idea was to see prostitutes as just another part of the good proletariat slaving away and being exploited by capital. 

Everyone bought in, everywhere. Look how the movie review sites describe Anora. Here’s the blurb from Rotten Tomatoes:

“Mikey Madison (ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) captivates as Ani, a young sex worker from Brooklyn whose life takes an unexpected turn. . .”

By contrast, Julia Robers still gets the old-school treatment on IMDB, which scandalously calls her character a “prostitute.”

Unsurprisingly, dewy-faced Mikey Madison stood at the podium to accept her award and did the simpering starlet act we’ve come to expect. Oh, how I never dreamed a girl from Los Angeles could rise to these heights, she cooed. 

But that wasn’t the sick-making part. As most people who pretend to be other people for a living do, Madison veered off into praising the hooker class whom she portrayed. 

“I also just want to again recognize and honor the sex worker community; I will continue to support and be an ally,” she oozed. 

The sex worker community? Prostitution should be “honored?” Well, it is Hollywood in 2025.

Zelenskyy Demands, Trump Throws Him Out, the American Public is Over it

By now you’ve seen and heard the meeting that shot around the world online. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy went to the White House to visit with President Trump and Vice President Vance, ostensibly to finalize one of Trump’s deals. 

The agreement was to have been this. In exchange for past and future U.S. military support in its war with Russia, Ukraine was to have agreed to give the U.S. half of any money it got from Ukraine’s natural resources. These included rare earth minerals (crucial in high-tech manufacturing) and proceeds from the sale of oil, natural gas, and similar materials. 

So far, the U.S. has given hundreds of billions of dollars in cash and artillery to Ukraine. Trump claims it’s between $300 and $350 billion, though many news outlets put the number closer to $182 billion. It’s impossible to know the truth; Trump may be wrong or exaggerating, but he may also know something the public does not. Regardless, every figure is massive.

But whatever it is in that range, it’s a huge wad of cash, all of which came from the pockets of regular Americans. Trump and Vance emphasized this to Zelenskyy during the meeting in the Oval Office, which was called to finalize not only the minerals deal, but to cement a peace process between Ukraine and Russia. 

Zelenskyy’s performance crashed the entire deal, peace and all. Nothing like this exchange has been seen in American politics in living memory. From walking in to the oval office in his “playing war” costume while everyone else wore suits, to addressing the Vice President as “JD” and baiting him, Zelenskyy was the illustration next to the dictionary entry for “biting the hand that feeds you.”

Both Trump and Vance had had enough, and warned him with raised voices that he was a guest in the United States, and that it did not help his cause to come in ungrateful, demanding, and rude. 

Here’s just some of that exchange. “I think it’s disrespectful for you come into the oval office and try to litigate this in front of the American media.” And that was just the start. 

Zelenskyy remained combative, folded his arms across his chest like a scorned child, and was eventually kicked out of the White House with the lunch in his honor canceled. Trump said “he can come back when he is ready for peace.”

Democrats, of course, are running to comfort the grasping leader of a foreign country who has treated America like a piggy bank. But Zelenskyy is losing the American people, among whom he has a dwindling number of “friends.” Citing a Harvard poll from this week, the X/Twitter account End Wokeness posted these lopsided pie charts. 

In response to the question “Do you want Ukraine to continue the war against Russia or negotiate a settlement with Russia?” – 61% of Democrats, 80% of Republicans, and 73% of Independents said “negotiate a settlement.” A majority of independents (53%) backed Trump announcing direct U.S.-Russia negotiations to end the war, while 85% of Republicans did. 40% of Democrats did too.

“Anti-Racist” Woman Looks More Like a Plain Old Narcissist

The term “virtue signaling” has become a part of everyday vocabulary in America. It’s what we say about people who proclaim their political allegiances in a boastful way for the purpose of being complimented. They want to hear how moral they are, how giving they are, how very-much-better-and-kinder they are than other people. 

That matters. For such people, it’s not only that they want to be told they are good, kind, and giving. They want to be told that they are more of these things than anyone else. Narcissism, excessive self-regard, disguises itself as humility. It works on a lot of people because it uses the “reversal” pattern: their behavior seems to be generous, and seems to be kind, so how could it be selfish or wicked? 

This is also how the “big lie” principle infamously articulated by Joseph Goebbels works: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” But why does it work? What is it that makes people believe it? It’s that most people are basically, fundamentally decent. They don’t often lie or misrepresent themselves in a serious way. So, they don’t believe that there are other humans who do these things. If Jane says she really cares, that must mean she really cares, and it would be churlish to think she’s actually pitiless and self-centered. 

Thus, the great number of genuinely pitiless and self-centered people among us go undetected for a long time, or by a large number of people. So it is with the white leftist virtue-signaler. You’ve all seen examples of superannuated baby boomers trying to continue to live in their glory days of youth when they were “fighting for civil rights” or “working for women’s liberation.” Kamala Harris’ speech at the famous Edmund Pettus Bridge in Alabama, the site of a storied civil rights march that ended in police beating black protesters in 1965, is a good example. For Harris and other leftists, they need to maintain the illusion that they “care”, and also that nothing has changed for the better. 

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow shows how absurd this pandering to blacks is when she affects to be disturbed by the firing of black colleague Joy Reid (an unrepentant black racist). Maddow claims there’s something sinister about firing a “woman of color,” all the while pretending that MSNBC didn’t hire three more people of color to replace Reid.

On the everyday level, countless Democrat white women have been competing for praise and adulation by positioning themselves as the most tender, caring saviors of black people. It’s a kind of masochistic narcissism. They claim to be “taking a knee” and “humbling” themselves to “fight racism,” but they’re actually preening and posing hoping to be told how special and good they are. 

Take this embarrassing display dug up by the X/Twitter account “Defiant Ls”. 

The white woman in the video overlays text telling the viewer what she allegedly does “when black women are speaking.” She then puts tape over her mouth and showily takes notes in a spiral notebook. See how GOOD she is? 

Fewer and fewer people are buying these maudlin set pieces. Take a look at the online reaction.
