One of the Trump administration’s newest and most aggressive initiatives has nabbed two foreign nationals who illegally cast ballots in the 2024 presidential election.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in partnership with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), announced that two Ukrainian nationals were arrested for unlawfully voting in last year’s election.
The arrests are being touted as a major victory for DOGE—an agency created by Trump to cut government waste, and now tasked with enforcing immigration and election laws.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said in a post on X:
“In partnership with @DOGE, @ICEgov arrested two Ukrainian nationals for illegally VOTING in the 2024 election.”
“Under President Donald Trump, if you come to our country and break our laws, you will face the consequences.”
Initially launched to cut federal spending, DOGE has now expanded into broader areas of federal oversight.
The agency’s members have been granted authority to cancel contracts for scientific research, climate programs, DEI initiatives, and now, immigration crackdowns.
This arrest marks the first publicly known case where DOGE’s internal intelligence has led directly to law enforcement action.
President Trump has repeatedly vowed to hold foreign nationals accountable if they interfere with America’s democratic process.
High-profile Republicans—and Trump himself—have long criticized election security under the previous administration.
Trump has wasted no time overhauling government inefficiency and prioritizing election integrity, shaking up the political landscape.
Since January, the Trump administration has deported approximately 139,000 undocumented immigrants, as military personnel are deployed to sanctuary cities that resist cooperation.
