WATCH: The Village People Perform Y.M.C.A. At Donald Trump’s Victory Rally

Donald Trump capped off a remarkable victory rally ahead of Inauguration Day with a live performance of Y.M.C.A. by the Village People.

The 1978 #1 hit, which became the closer for MAGA rallies throughout the campaign, skyrocketed in popularity as a result of the President-elect’s influence. Trump would perform his signature dance at the end of almost all of his rallies, which played a key factor in his electoral victory last November.

Following the election, the “Trump dance” became a signature celebration in many sporting events. At UFC 309, heavyweight champion Jon Jones performed the dance in front of the President-elect, while it also swept the NFL and even the third division of English soccer.

Despite an initial reluctance to permit use of the song, Village People frontman Victor Willis expressed his support for Y.M.C.A.’s association with the Republican in December. He also hinted he would be “open” to performing the #1 hit at Trump’s inauguration.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, the prospect of a live performance came true as thousands flocked to the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. The Village People came together for the live rendition, with Trump taking center stage with his iconic dance moves.

Check it out for yourself – and yes, he does the dance.

The group took an ovation and shook hands with Trump before departing the stage.

Further musical performances are earmarked for Inauguration Day, with Carrie Underwood set to perform America the Beautiful as part of the festivities.
